Decoding DCL Luggage Tags

Does anyone know what the letter immediately following the cabin number, on the DCL luggage tags refers to?

Well mine has an a and our cabin is aft so I figured that's what it was. If the other letters are m (mid) and f (forward) then that's my guess.

My old ones have and A and our stateroom was aft.

It helps them to sort the luggage by ship's location without needing to refer to cabin number--which cart to go on, which crew elevator to take the case up on.
