with being creative.

Neighbors are having an estate sale, preparatory to selling their house - and I have permission to include a bunch of stuff in it, if I choose. We've already cleared out the trains we brought back from Germany, and some of the camping gear we haven't used in 15 years.

I'm dithering over 6 small vases - Bing & Grondahl, and Austrian hand painted porcelain. They are nothing but dust catchers to me now. This sounds stupid now that I write this, but here goes anyway.

Should I "save" them to go as mementos to 6 (currently small) young friends when I go toes up, or stick them in the sale and leave the girls money?

oh, and another thing. . . The little camping gear that's left - would you post it on Craigs list in hopes of getting "something" for it, or put it in the estate sale, where I could potentially get nothing, if it doesn't sell, just to have it out of the house? I have no experience with either one.

Linda we've been very sucessful with craigslist. as for the Vases I'd include a note with each of them saying they can choose to keep or sell. I know it means holding on to them but...... there are days I kill for something belonging to someone special that I miss. Better yet wrap it up and give it to their parents now to give to them at x age incase you're not around. then it's out of your house

depending on where you live, camping gear may sell fast. I know around here its snappped up in a couple minutes.

I wish that was true here! I had it out in a yard sale a couple years ago and nothing went. We sold the tent to a neighbor this year, but he didn't want anything else. I think we've decided it's going to the estate sale, and if it doesn't move, the person running it can take it to donate. At least it will be out of my basement!

Thank you. That's Brilliant, And that is what I will do.

I agree with Christy's idea for the vases....what a sweet gift! I have two small pieces of milk glass my grandma collected and treasure having something that she loved so much!

as for the rest, just let it go, less stuff in your house :thumbsup2

I am with you Linda. We are finally emptying the storage unit today of MIL's stuff. She's been gone for 3 years.
DH has finally decided that the hand full of pieces that have the strong connection are worth keeping and the rest is just stuff.

:cool1::cool1::cool1:
now all of the money that was going there needs to go to the next Disney trip or craft supplies ;)

Disney trip and tuition for the little kids. they changed the payment rules so I need to either pay all upfront or monthly for 9 months, either way it's painful!!

$7100 for the 3 kids total and $6100 and change for the Disney trip, plus gas for the RV there and back.

YEA for small victories! I remember how that was when she passed. OYE.

Not even going to Craigslist the camping stuff - just taking it to the estate sale, if it sells, it sells, if it doesn't pfft. gone.

Van is packed with the trains to deliver tomorrow and my basement is looking fine.:thumbsup2

Sometimes it's just better to have it gone, Linda.

I'm to that point. We were going to sell his mom's stuff but I just decided it wasn't worth the hassle. We are donating it to the kids school for the rummage sale. If any pieces don't sell we will pick them back up and take them to the Habitat for Humanity re-store shop.
I just want the clutter gone.

Buffy, that's what I did with Jim's things after I sorted through everything, they are a great organization!!!
