If clothes are still in decent shape I donate them. Yesterday I decluttered my shoe closet. OMG, I found these 15!!! years old boots :scared1: . My neighbour says that I should donate them. I know...Recycling is very important, but old boots ???? I am a recycling nut, but I think these 15 years old pull-on boots contain a lot of bacteria   . It sounds harsh, but I mean these old leather boots are worthless/disgusting trash. And I mean DISGUSTING!

Donate them to *her* then. :teeth:

Seriously, it is a rare pair of shoes (especially that old) that should make the rounds.

Yuck, I think I would toss them unless they were in good condition.

I have to tell you when I saw the title of this thread I thought it said, "declawing question--donate or trash?" Ewwwww! :rotfl:

I'm a **BIG** recycler and found freecycle.org. Basically its a email list where people post that they want or willing to offer. It works great! :thumbsup2 Go to Freecycle.org

Enjoy

25 down 50 to go.

Our Freecycle is a Yahoo! Group. I'm a HUGE fan.

We have been renovating our house, and we haven't had to haul off anything!

Someone came and got our bathtub, doors, drawer pulls...even the kitchen SINK!

I've donated shoes before, but I tend to go through shoes pretty quickly (read: get sick of them quickly, not wear 'em out quickly), so mine have all been in pretty good shape. We've got a Vietnam Vets group that comes around every so often and they've always been pleased with everything we've donated, so that's how I tend to declutter. I just hate throwing stuff away!

I always donate.

They can toss them if they dont' think anyone can use them. They also donate to places that recycle materials to make new things. So, things that don't sell still get used sometimes in other products....like to make stuffing or rag rugs etc.

If old shoes/boots are in good conditions, please donate them. If those are the boots in the picture, then I would ditch them into the black household waste bag because they look old and worn out. Hi Chrissy, you are correct!

Today I grabbed the trash bag from the kitchen and put those old boots into it. Ok - I feel better now. Think that was the right choice. I wish I had done it some years earlier  .

If they're designer boots, then sell them on ebay! Vintage gucci, etc, will always sell, no matter what the condition, although, er, I think I might use something more market friendly than "disgusting". Maybe, 'well worn'. :rotfl:

Otherwise, I'm all with ya on the toss them idea.

My MIL brings over the most disgusting stuff (read old christmas junk full of dead cockroaches), because she can't ever throw stuff out, she has to 'donate' it.

Yuck!

When in doubt, throw them out :thumbsup2 :teeth:

I think you don´t look at the link. No designer boots :( ... think my old boots look like "stove pipes" with high heels :rotfl: . No shape, so thick around the ankles :scared1: .

Another Freecycle fan here! Somebody has always wanted the stuff I've put on there, even the stuff I thought "no way". Doesn't hurt to try and you still get whatever it is out of your house.

I looked at the link and totally agree with you. Those boots are really hideous. Too tubey and worn out. No doubt put them DEEP into the trash bag. I bet no one would miss them :teeth:

Where I live we have these people called "binners". They go around the alleys of the city and collect things people don't want. They look for stuff they can fix and sell or old clothes and other recycle stuff. We just put stuff for them beside the garbage cans. If no one wants it the garbage people take it away. Works great for things you can't decide if anyone would want!

Experiment:
Try putting them on Ebay describing in minute detail all their flaws and see if someone doesnt buy them. Call them broken in lady pirate boots. Bet someone will buy them!pirate:

You did the right thing by tossing them. I recycle and donate whatever I can. But if the item is really in bad shape, it's just not fair to dump it on someone else. However, if it's in good shape, then it's wonderful to bless someone that can need it.
