Declining Mousekeeping?

I left my Do Not Disturb sign on my door for the 4 nights I stayed in March. I didn't receive any discounts.

They are not doing real mousekeeping at all right now-- if you are lucky, they will change out your towels, take out the garbage and refresh your toiletries. That's at no discount to you!

That doesn’t count anyway.
when they were offering the discount you had to decline it at check in and not just randomly have the sign up or not

Disney has not had Do Not Disturb signs for a few years now. Not since they instituted mandatory security room checks. Now it is Room Occupied. Even if you decline housekeeping, your room will receive a security check daily. Sign or no sign.

There's no mousekeeping to decline currently. They are not doing traditional daily housekeeping service, likely now because of staff shortages. As mentioned, they say you will get trash and towel service every other day but its not been consistent at any resort (i.e. we had it once in our 6 day stay at CBR). If you decline trash and towel service, they are not giving anything for that.

I guess the wording wasn't 'Do Not Disturb' but thats what I thought it meant.

Can you explain security checks? I keep hearing about it and that it is related to Las Vegas shootings a few years ago but I don't understand exactly what they are looking for.

Once a day someone - either security or a housekeeper who has been trained - will enter the room and look for signs of anything like weaponry or human trafficking. No one knows specifically what they are looking for - and asking outright will likely get a big old red flag on your account for extra scrutiny.

It is right in the fine print that they can enter your room - it is private property and they are within their rights. Just to note - any hotel can do this, and many do, they just don’t tell you they are.
