Declining Housekeeping... How Inconvenient is it Really?

We declined Mousekeeping during our last trip and it was not an inconvenience. We were given plenty of towels and wash clothes and extra coffee supplies.

I’m considering taking the option to receive a gift card over housekeeping but I’ve seen mixed opinions. Is it a hassle to get new towels or get rid of old ones? How about trash?

TIA!
We have opted for the gift card a few times on short stays. we never found it a hassle to get new towels. we just left the trash outside the door when we seen them coming and they took it away.
last year we stayed for 2 weeks and did find that it would of been nice to have the room cleaned. we asked house keeping for new sheets at the end of 1 week.

I don’t know if it’s a glitch or no longer an option, but I had opted out of housekeeping for my June trip. When I go to update my check in, it’s no longer there.

All should opt out in my opinion for some of their stay. Protects the cast member. I bet if they upped the gift card offer on declining it would be more popular.

Doesn't look like you'll get the option if this goes through when they open:

They could pay me $1000 a day and I’d never take it. Housekeeping is a basic amenity of a hotel stay to me. I’m not hugely messy and we don’t have kids so it’s not like we leave a ton of work for them anyway.

And FTR my grandma did it for a living. I tip well for their troubles.

I get you. I was ok with it for a 4 night stay, but 7 nights was too much and I regretted it.

I think it is going to be the norm for a while to help reduce the amount of contact! It is interesting to hear different perspectives! Hopefully they will still give out a gift card even if we can't choose to opt out 🤞

We declined housekeeping on a 9-night stay last year and everything went well. We have 2 kids, they were 6 and 9, so we did take naps every day but never saw the security check. We know they came in because they kept lowering the AC from the t`° we wanted.

No problems to get towels, they even took out the trash a few times.

If your concern is replenishing toiler paper, towels, I wouldn’t give it a second thought. There bring them immediately when you call. Not a big deal. I personally like having my room cleaned especially with a few people sharing one small space. But getting items you need isn’t a worry at all.
