Just my opinion:

With the recent announcement of Millionaire closing in August, I am wondering what's up with that park! The theatre that used to house the TV stuff with Lucy has been empty since they did a live "Doug" show many years ago. I can't beleive they cannot find something to go in there! Sounds Dangerous is also a show that, seen once, is enough. When they stopped having the studios be a real working studio, things have gone downhill (except for the thrill rides which personally, I don't do). I love the other attractions, but am also sad that other stuff remains unused or terminated.

I agree you can't get more "into the movies and tv" than millionaire and superstar tv. I can't believe it is going to be gone. I still love going to disney studios I just hope they replace these loved attractions with something that will be equally great.

I agree, when i was there in May i thought out of all 4 parks..MGM needed the most help...it has gone way downhill....they need a bunch of new attractions & either update or get rid of some. The backlot Tour is just awful and boring now...since it's not a working studio. I loved Star Tours when it came out...but it feels very dated since technology has come along way since it opened. TOT & RNR are the only reasons to go there now.

We've never really been that impressed with MGM. But hopefully with the inclusion of Lights, Motors, Action and the future updating of Star Tours, they'll start to improve the park.

I second everyone's opinion. My DS(13) loves WWTBAMPI, and does not know yet that it is closing.( I dont think he could handle hearing that Millionaire and Quest are going) It looks like MGM will be a 1/2 day park from now on. TOT and RNR will be the only things for us to really enjoy, having seen/done everything else many times.

One thing that I still love to do and hope they will never get rid is enjoy the street performers/actors. Its nice way to take a break. Just sit on a bench with your mickey mouse ice cream bar and laugh away :rotfl2:

They are supposed to be adding some Narnia stuff to MGM. Like a tour in the wardrobe. And a couple other things. The main reasons y I go to MGM is for TOT, RNR, GMR and Fantasmic of course.

I agree with this, and I also will throw the Beauty and the Beast show in there. I miss the Hunchback show they had years ago. You never see anything Hunchback anymore! :confused3

I totally agree with everyone :grouphug: that MGM needs to come up with something else cool and exciting to bring people there. We weren't even going to go this time had they not started a Character breakfast with Jo Jo's Circus & Little Einstein. They're even closing "Who Wants To Be A Millionaire" (Aug. 18th) because it was such a mess. :surfweb: Lets hope they bring something cool to that soundstage. I mean, who wants to go on that horrible Movie Ride and Backlot Tour one more time?? I mean for first timers its great, but the majority of Disney guests have been there, done that a million times!! :yay:

To me the biggest sign of the decline is that they aren't even sticking with the theme all that much any more. What does Aerosmith have to do with movies? Wouldn't another Toy story attraction really be better in the MK, or if its so close to Buzz like it sounds as if it would be, why not just replace Buzz THERE with the "better Buzz"?

MGM just seems like a place to toss attractions they can't figure out where to put anywhere else now. I still like the park (have to have my Star Tours, Muppets, and Indy fix!) but as they update it they are losing what the park was all about.

i still can't beleive they are taking out Millionare...I think that was a bad move and it stinks because its closing right before I get there! MGM needs something new and exciting to bring hoards of people there like Everest at AK.

....and didn't I hear something about Disney not being able to call it Disney "MGM" Studios anymore???? Cause of copyrights or something?? In the future it might just be called the Disney Studios instead of MGM....

Yeah, MGM needs some more theming IMHO. The MK has Adventureland, Tommorrowland, Fantasyland, etc. Epcot has WS, The Land, Universe of Energy, Innoventions, etc.

What does MGM have? I love RRC, ToT, The Great Movie Ride, etc. However, it is lacking in proper themeing like the MK has and as a result will always seem a bit "random".

Walt really understood proper theming and apparently it is a lost art.

I must respectfully disagree. The Studios remain one of my favorite places at WDW. As a solo traveler, the park has many attractions that I really enjoy. The only slight problem I have is with making my personal plan for the day because of conflicting show starting times. But once I have that worked out, and my dinner reservation made at the Brown Derby, I'm all set for a great day.

I start with the Tower and end with the Christmas lights. A great day if you ask me.

Enjoy.

DisneyQuest is closing? WHEN?? Will it still be open 1st week of September?

Didn't mean to hijack the thread, but this is news to me!

My only must sees/dos are RNR, TOT, and Fantasmic. These are excellent attractions that I simply wouldn't miss. Everything else in the park is ok to miss. I do like some of the other attractions but I don't LOVE them. In fact, there are many attractions that I wish were not there so that I don't have to re-experience them with newbies. They take up precious Disney time. MGM has always been a 1/2 day park for me (I'm not into movies as much as animals, fantasy, science, and cultures).....it soon may be a 1/4 day park. I usually visit AK in the morning and then go to MGM in the afternoon. I may start spending the majority of the day in AK and showing up to MGM in time to ride RNR, TOT, eat, and watch Fantasmic!

Mgm has the two best thrill rides at WDW in my opinion. The only way I could be uninterested at MGM is if they were to remove these. But I do believe MGM needs 2 or 3 more rides....

We love MGM and always spend 3 full days here! This way we don't have to kill ourselves to see all the shows all at once. I would welcome new rides/shows though! I'm always open to that idea.

Honestly, if it weren't for ToT and RnR, we probably wouldn't even go to that park every visit, but that is just me. I don't have to watch Muppets 3-D EVERY trip or see Playhouse Disney EVERY time. And one time of Sounds Dangerous was too much. That park is in desperate need of something to pull in people.
