Was just customizing our magic bands, and underneath where it says "magic band pending," there a link that says "Decline Magic Band."

I haven't seen this before!

Here's our current situation:
AP
4 reservations linked

Anyone seen or used the decline option before?!

No, but I would have as we are checking in Friday after a 1 night stay last week. These were last minute bookings, so we will have 2 lovely gray sets. I was frustrated that we could not use our colored (older) bands according to check in CMs. She said I could bring them to desk to be activated, but they were in our luggage and this seemed too much of a hassle for a short stay. If you decline, will your old band be ready to go?

The CMs were wrong. (Many seem to love to make up their own rules.)

All of your MBs from previous trips still connected to your MDE account will still work without needing to be "activated."

I see it on mine too....but I'm not touching it to see what happens....we only go once a year so we want a new band.

Bring the old ones. Cm was wrong. Unless you deactivated them they are still active. And if you deactivated them then deactivate them.

I have 9 bands that work interchangeably. And that's just my bands. DS has 7 and DH has 3.

I'm not quite ready to guinea pig this either. H said he only wants one for her next trip, so maybe I'll play with it a little later in the week.

I'm still going to get a new one, because I put my name and date on the back for a keepsake, but I have the Olaf band from last year that I am going to use again....I hope!

Yes I have! When I was trying to customize our magic bands last mth my iPad wasn't cooperating. So I got back on a couple of days later and they all said declined ! I had to call tech support and they fixed it. He said this was a new feature that was coming soon but wasn't released yet and mine glitched. And yes, you can use your old bands.

We always do split stays...our trip in Aug/Sept this year (ignore my ticker we are surprising our kids for this one) we are 1 night at AKL, 3 nights AKL DVC, 4 nights at the Swan. My guess is that would be three more sets of Magic Bands, when we already have 6 sets of them. This would be so nice to simply decline them!

OH, I love this option! I would so much rather use the RFID card than the stiff, hot, sticky band. I usually take it off and stick it in my pocket or purse anyway.

Great news! And I love that it's actually smart enough to know who has bands and who doesn't. I just checked our trip for November and it does allow me, DH and DGD to decline our bands. But I've added DD to the account for her first trip with bands and I do not have the ability to decline her band. Which is good as she does need one

My DH is going to be so excited about this option! As seasonal passholders who stay at Disney Resorts a few times a year, we are stocking up on the Magicbands...and the only color he wants is RED. I am so glad Disney did this!

I also agree that the CM was wrong. We were just there last week and received two new MB's by mail before arriving. I kept telling my DH that the old MB's from our trip in October would work...he didn't believe me but I brought them along anyway. We received our room # via text while driving in, arrived at AKL and went straight to our room with both new and old MB's they both worked! We interchanged them frequently based on outfit colors :)

There are criteria for being able to decline a band online:
  • The Guest already has a MagicBand assigned to them
  • One of the assigned bands is less than a year old
  • The MagicBand order is for a resort reservation (Passholder orders cannot be declined)
The bands can also be undeclined anytime before the order is set to ship.

If you do not meet the criteria but still wish to decline, you can do so by contacting a cast member with that access (ie, pre-arrival support)

Yeah I got a glitch where my magicabands were accidentally declined and I had to call tech support. It was pretty quick to fix it. I'm starting to think that I'm the queen of glitches. LOL

Thanks for the info! We're DVC/AP members and go to the parks 3 times in 10 mths, then take a 14 mth break--it'll be great to be able to decline some! We also have a split stay coming up and didn't want 2 sets for 1 stay.
