We are hoping to book a Cat 3 for our next cruise. We originally wanted one of the Cat 3's in the middle of the ship. I have heard so many stories of the noise on deck 8 that I am worried about these rooms. Does anyone have any experience with them? We stayed in 8602 and we were not bothered by the chairs we heard in the morning. We have two young girls who would be bothered by noise throughout the night.

We were at the stern of the ship and the only noise we heard was early morning as deck chairs were re-arranged for breakfast at topsiders.

We were in 8048 (cat 3 - midship) on the Wonder and the early morning (4:30) noise was quite bad. The worst we could hear was the dragging of tables and chairs back into place and rolling carts to/from the snack bars (sounded like thunder). The only other really bad noise was the night of the deck party, and it was very loud until it ended at midnight. I would not stay in any cabin close to the middle of the ship on deck 8. I might consider one of the cat 3 rooms in the stern (like 8602), but anyone who cares to look, has a clear view of your verandah from deck 9. 8022 or 8522 might not be too bad, but you'll probably have some table/chair noise there as well.

We have a room under the hair salon booked for our 4/04 trip, so (hopefully) that will be quiet. It's not a cat 3, but oh well.......

You've probably seen my posts about 8034, a Cat. 3. It is directly under the Goofy Pool stage and if anything is going on that is loud on that stage (like the deck parties) you will hear it quite clearly. I honestly would not stay in that suite again just for that reason.

I've been in other cabins on Deck 8 and they were not as bad but there was definitely still noise overhead with chairs being scraped, kids running, etc. I can live with that. :)

We've booked room 8576 for next year and now I'm wondering if it will be noisy.

Our last cruise was on deck 7 near the aft elevators and it was great.

We're going from 3 guests on a 4 night, to 4 guests on a 7 night and we thought it would be nice to have a little extra room.

I assume Mickey's kids pool should be quiet at night . Aren't the deck parties usually over Goofy's?

This is a great forum but it reminds me of when I was pregnant with my first child and read every pregnancy book I found. It had my head spinning with 'what if's" so I stopped reading them!!!
This is fun and informative reading but I guess I'll have to cut back to keep my sanity!!!

Can anyone tell me about noise in cat. 3 room 8548? Kathy

Kathy, I was in 8546 and didn't hear a thing, not even deck chairs.

However, you CAN hear the deck party simply by virtue of having a verandah. I don't think many can avoid that if you're near the middle of the ship.

You should be fine.

Next month I'm in the Cat. 1 (8530) which is directly under the QuarterMasters gameroom, which I guess is OK since it has a rug and has set hours of operation.

I know it sounds strange, but I would much rather be under the Goofy Pool, listening to the sounds of the deck party, than be on deck 2 under the clubs. It is really disturbing to me to hear a bassline only, but I can get to sleep as long as I can hear the actual music! I have a friend who was in a stateroom in that vicinity once who would never do it again. It seems that people have such a varied tolerance for different types of noise. Hallway noise (people talking, running, etc.) and "elephants" overhead will keep me up, but engine noise will put me to sleep. I've also met people who are the exact opposite...I ran into someone who was going crazy from the engine noise in 5150, the mirror stateroom to my favorite 5650, and it was driving him insane! For me, it puts me out like a light (and it doesn't seem all that loud...I would personally prefer more, but then again I sleep with a white noise machine set to "Yosemite Falls" every night).

Thank you MickeyB426! That is great news. On our last Celebrity cruise we were on the equivalent deck of the Magic's 8. In our skiy suite we had all kinds of morning noises. It sounded like large carts moving with supplies, tables being moved and chairs being moved. A deck party that has certain hours I can handle :). A cat 1-you will have to post a trip report on that concerning that room. Kathy

Thank you for all of your help! This will be a big trip for us and I don't want it ruined by making a poor room selection. The last thing I want is a loud room where the kids won't sleep. Thanks to everyone on this board who has helped me in making informed decisions.
