Are they noisy?

We always stay in cat 9 cabins, but I am considering surprising my husband with a birthday cruise, and Florida resident rates would apply. We would be able to stay in a cat 4 cabin on deck 8 for about $300 more than a cat 9 cabin (4 people, 3 nights). I normally wouldn't spend the extra money for the cat 4, but I don't know if we'll ever have this type of great promotion again.

Can you hear the pool and pool chair noise in these cabins?

Marcy

Hi Marcy...we have stayed in Cat 4's a few times and never heard any noise that would be bothersome.....some times you would hear some pool chairs moving about in the morning when the CM's were arranging them....but nothing bad.

Stayed in a Cat 4 before and will again next year, they are generally very good for low noise, we did here music from the band on the mexican deck party night, but it didnt go on to late, and on the sailaway party before we joined it.that basically was it

We stayed in a Cat 3 last time we sail (2 years ago) and we loved it!
There can be some noise on the night of the deck party- I only know this because we happened to go back to the room for a few minutes to pick up extra film. Nothing too bad. The rest of the night we were at the party ourselves, so that noise didn't bother us. By the time we got back to our room around 10pm, the party was pretty much dying down so we didn't hear it anymore.

There was also some noise in the very early morning as mmouse37 has already said and while my DH and DD can sleep through anything, my DS and I tend to be very light sleepers and we weren't bothered by the noise. I only heard it one morning when I was already awake early. It never actually woke us up.

For the most part I think we were really tired from each of our exciting days so by the time we fell in bed we were pretty much out of it ::yes:: .

For our upcoming cruise we will again be on deck 8 and have no reservations about it. We will be bringing a small white noise machine this time however because my youngest DD(1) is also a light sleeper and we will be in the cabin more during the day so she can take her naps.

Hi Marcy,

Most of the cabins on deck 8 are not too noisy. We have been on deck 8 for our last 3 cruises and we will be there again in Dec. If you have a choice of cabins the most quite ones are the ones forward under the spa. I would say the ones you might have a problem with are the ones under the Goofy Pool, mainly because of the deck parties if you go to bed before they end. Otherwise the only noise we have heard in the past was when they were putting out the deck chairs in the morning. I would say go for it!

We've stayed on Deck 8 in the Cat. 2 (forward part of ship) for all of our cruises. Yes, you hear some noise from the furniture, etc. being moved by CMs. However, I love the location. It is so convenient to pools and the kids love running up to grab the chicken fingers, ice cream and soda. I also love the secret stairway up to Topsiders. I say go for it!! HTH

Thanks, all -- I'm still concerned about the spoiling factor (i.e., will we ever be able to stay in a cat 9 again?), but boy, this could be a fun surprise!

Marcy....the answer to will I ever be able to stay in a Cat 9 again....is YES!!!

Now that our teens are older we prefer to have two Cat 9's instead of one Cat 4.....so we have successfuly made the transition to O/V from veranda and have survived!!! Personally I couldn't care if I slept down below sea level if it meant cruising at all!!!

Are you thinking about the January 6th Wonder by chance.....if so are we are booked already!!!! We were also on the 9/27 Magic without the teens.

MJ

Yes, it is the Jan. 6th Wonder!!! My dh's birthday is the 7th, and I would love to completely surprise him -- drive to the port, having packed his bags, and say, "Happy Birthday! We're going on a cruise!"

Hi Marcy,

I can only agree with what everyone else has said. Thus far we've always been on deck 8. Yes in the morning you might hear a few deck chairs being moved and on the veranda you can hear music during the deck parties, but not disturbingly loud. We've been close to the aft stair way the last couple of times and love the closeness to the drink station and Topsiders.

I know what you mean about the spoiling factor. We've stayed in cat 4 the first 3 times, but this last time we were upgraded to the cat 3 suite. We thought we were in heaven. However, DW and I are booked in a Cat 11 for our Jan 15, 2005 Second Honeymoon cruise and I think we'll be just fine. I sure will miss the veranda, but will thrilled to be back on the ship so soon.

We'll let you know how much of a shock it is to our systems when we get back. But in 2006 we should be back in a cat 4.
