Deck 2 or Deck 6 Wonder

Right now I have two sideways cabins on Deck 6 in the forward of the ship. We are party of five ... these cabins have no drop down bed from the ceiling (have a 10 year old who loves the upper bunk), plus no split bath. There are connecting deluxe insides on Deck 2 (2083 and 2085) ... for all 10 cruises I have only been on Deck 5, 6 or 7. What are your thoughts??? Really torn over this !! Thanks for the input !

My husband and I tried out a "sideways cabin" (6515) on the Wonder a couple weeks ago and while we did really like the layout, we both agreed it was the loudest cabin we've ever stayed in. I think there might be something flawed with the actual door as you could see a little light around the creases and this let in every noise from the hallway and the cabin doors banging all hours of the day into night was unreal. I think because the bed is so close to the cabin door and faces it, it's just louder, period. I haven't stayed inside on deck 2 and honestly this was only my second time staying staying in an inside cabin but we would likely avoid this one/area in the future.

On the flip side, we've had several deck 2, 9C cabins on the Magic/Wonder and have loved them. We have a 9C for our Med cruise this summer.

We got the best sleep on our last cruise. We had deck 2 connecting insides. We had the upper bunks. My kids love those too.

I've stayed in 2088 twice on the Wonder. There wasn't a problem with noise on either cruise (5 years apart). Loved the location.

Always been on Deck 2 and very happy about it. When I walk all the other decks, there seem to be a lot of kids running wild. The hallways tend to be very quiet on Deck 2.

EDIT TO ADD: it's also pretty cool to look out the window and be so close to the water. Was going to add a picture, but photobucket is lagging too much right now.

We did deck 2 on the Wonder recently and it is the best. You are close to everything, except the pools. It was quiet, little motion and one of the best experiences we have had. We will look at deck 2 from now on.

thanks!!! Has anyone actually stayed in 2083 and 2085 ... I noticed it is next to a big space (staging area for crew) -- and a review of one of the cabins complained of noise from C02 canisters ... and above is Lumieres? Or Tritons? can't remember which ship has what restaurant!!

100% agree with this. Deck 2 is where its at!!

Have stayed on Deck 2 on the Wonder twice and absolutely LOVED it both times. We especially loved how you could quickly pop up the stairs to Decks 3 and 4. Very convenient. On our last cruise we were the first room off the elevator, and I moaned and groaned about, was sure it would be SO noisy and that did not turn out to be the case at all. I would never hesitate to stay on Deck 2. Have so much fun!

We stayed in 2072 which isn't that far away from the 2 cabins you are looking at. We were in an oceanview that was under Triton's and never heard any noises and I'm a very light sleeper. Lumiere's is on the Magic.

We were in 2070 and did hear kids running every night around 10pm, but I think it was one family "exercising" their beasts...I mean children...before bed.

We had 2070 (on the Magic) on our first cruise, and have now booked 2070 and 2072 on the Wonder for our Alaska cruise in 2018 :) We also had deck 2 last summer on the Med. Love it, you're really close to everything, launderette just a few doors down, and it really is nice and quiet in there!

We have stayed on just about all decks and Deck 2 is one of my favorites!!! It is so convenient to so many things. Often I found myself running back to the cabin to drop something off or pick something up and it is so easy.

We have also stayed in the sideways inside cabins....those were nice as well but if you son likes the upper bunk go with Deck 2.

I'm so glad to hear good reports for deck 2! We just booked and I was feeling nervous about being that low. Y'all have set my mind at ease.

We loved being on deck 2 as well. We were in 2116 on our first cruise on the Wonder, and have 2108 booked on the Magic for next summer. It was very convenient to everything. Going up 1-2 flights of stairs for restaurants, theater. Sometimes we'd take the aft elevator up to 9, and walk back down. We loved having an oceanview and being so close to the water.

This!! We were in 6007 on the Magic and had the same issue. My theory is that the side wall towards the hallway is not as insulated as it ought to be. I have decided to stay away from sideways cabins exactly for the sound issue in the future.

OP, I have sailed in 2077 on the Wonder, so pretty close to the room you are thinking about. While we had issues with the room itself (very bad upkeep, but that was in 2014 so hopefully not an issue anymore), we actually really liked the location as it was quite central to everywhere. I would not hesitate staying in that general area again. And for a group like yours I think the connecting door will be a great bonus.

I'm also a deck 2 convert. For our first two cruises we were on Deck 8 (Dream) and Deck 6 (Magic). Then on our last cruise on the Wonder we tried Deck 2 and loved it. The elevators going up are always empty and most of the time going to decks 3 and 4 we didn't even use the elevators. Sometimes even to deck 5 (though mostly going down we didn't). It was just so easy and quiet and we are hooked! We have deck 2 booked for next week (!!!) on the Magic and deck 2 booked again on the Magic next year.

Hello and hope you are doing well! :) So glad to hear we were not alone in this experience and I learned a lot from it (for myself and clients) and I had never read before they were so noisy before!

Take care,
Heather

Sailed on the Wonder twice last year in 2015 (inside) and 2068 (OV) and loved it! Super convenient to decks 3 and 4, easy to use the stairs. I'm kind of worried about being on the 7th deck on my upcoming cruise on the Magic.

Hi Heather!! Great to see you! Yes, I was quite surprised by how noisy the cabin was and that I had never heard about that issue before. My sister and I were not really bothered by it as we were up early most days during our cruise. But for someone who likes to sleep in (like my boyfriend for example), it really is not a good location at all. The only good thing was that when there was one of the announcements going on, you could understand every single word inside our stateroom without switching the TV channel or opening the door.
