Deck 10 on Fantasy

Hi all! We just booked a verandah room on Deck 10 of the Fantasy in September. I'm reading that being under the pool is not desirable, but it was literally the only room left! I assume this is because of noise during pool hours? Or is there noise at other times? We are early risers so that won't bother us and we always have a noise machine in case we feel like napping.

Any input would be great! Thanks!

First way to look at it is, any room on a cruise is better then not being on a cruise!

We had a deck 10 as well as other rooms under public areas. The deck 10 did seem to have a little more noise over the others. If you are midship then expect the issue to be more during the day. The noise is usually sporadic and usually not too bad. Sometimes it can dramatically loud but that would be due to a specific event. It is possible to get some noise in the evening and early day but that will be more due to what is scheduled, re-arranging deck chairs in the am on sea day and pirate party night. If you are more aft, under cabanas there can be some sound mid morning but usually less overall.

It also depends on how a light sleeper you are. I get up before my family. I could hear the chairs being moved because I was up but it was not noisy enough to wake them up. Of course, if getting up late or not having any noise is absolutely necessary, you might have a problem. The rest of the day, it was not any noisier than any other deck.

I was a lot more annoyed by noisy neighbors, and that can happen on any deck.

We've done 8 of our 9 cruises on deck 10 for Dream & Fantasy and deck 8 for Magic & Wonder. I've not had a problem, nor has my wife. The kids are in a coma, I mean sleep heavily, so they don't wake up early. We hear deck chair movement around 7-ish, but we're both up and on our second cup of coffee by then and having visited Cabanas. On nights where there is a deck party, it can be boisterous, but not too bad.

The advantages in proximity to the pool deck, kids clubs (Edge especially), and food, in our estimation, far outweigh any noise related issues. I try to book us midships as much as possible.

My experience, take it for what it's worth

You could try calling DCL just to confirm there are no other rooms. But remember these rooms are priced the same as the rooms on deck 9 and people buy them all the time. They can't be so horrible that they need to be discounted. There are other redeeming qualities, like being one flight of stairs from a lot of things. Also, are you in your room during the day? Do you have nappers that will hate any residual noises? Are you light sleepers and will wake to morning noise?

This sounds like us exactly! We are early risers, no matter how late we go to bed. Thanks!

We're on deck 10 midship for our cruise in March. I can report back on what we thought of it.

I figured that when there is the most noise (during the day, from most peoples reviews) we won't be in our cabin.

The other reason I dont like deck 10 is I feel like the room is a little warmer than lower decks because the sun is beating down all day on the deck right above you. All of the other decks have rooms that are surrounded by air conditioning.

I like the room cold at night so we just book rooms on other decks now.

We were just on Deck 9 Forward verandah and heard what sounded like running footsteps above us every night from 9-11pm. I thought it was just kids going down the hall but not really sure.

I would never book a room on that deck since I'm a super light sleeper and chair scrapping noises would definitely wake me up. Being only one flight of stairs below a lot of stuff is appealing though, the elevators can be really slow sometimes. If you aren't a light sleeper it's a good location. If you are it's a nightmare location lol.

this is why we always book far forward or far aft between decks of staterooms.

we were on 10 right below cabanas aft.. Never hear anything. but we are heavy sleepers.. we loooooved being a few steps from the stairs and right in cabanas.. this year we are midship and but requested deck 10

Looks like there are a few on 9 Aft. Not sure if that's any better??
9 gives you a buffer between you and the public areas. We've stayed in 05E on both 9 and 10. The only difference for us was that my verandah nap was interrupted by power washing the cabanas deck one day (how rude! lol).

On the other side of the coin, being only steps from Cabanas to grab breakfast and eat on our verandah was really nice. We are not light sleepers so I can't comment on other noise.

Light sleeper here. And on the Magic, one deck below pool area/cabanas- too noisy for me. I loved being one deck down from the fun, but the chair movement was too early in the morning for me and I tend to be an early riser. If that was the only room left on the ship and I wanted to cruise, would I still go? Not sure. Most likely, with ear plugs perhaps. But I personally did not care for it.

It's why I can never do those cheaper rates where you don't pick a cabin, there are too many that I would hate. I think it would make me choose a different date or cruise if the only ones left were below noisy areas.

We've had a verandah on deck 10 twice on the Fantasy and we love it!!! So convenient for grabbing food, drinks or heading up to pool or some late night soft-serve. We choose deck 10 forward and we haven't had any noise on either of our 7 night trips. We'll most likely pick deck 10 again for our next cruise.

We love Deck 10 forward on the Starboard side under the Rainforest on the Disney Dream and Disney Fantasy. Super quiet, the overhang above the veranda keeps the heat down and most time the rain away when it is just a downpour. :) The end of the hallway only leads to the Bridge so only folks coming and going are officers and those staying down there. We have never stayed midship on Deck 10 though...I would think the staterooms that are closer to elevator banks would be good because the pool chairs are put away after 5 PM so nothing there. Perhaps on the starboard side where there are tables and chairs at the midship elevators but nothing else really on that side.
