Deck 1?

Since I have seasickness concerns, I had understood that midship, deck 1 would be a good option for less motion, but I also hear that it is in the "bowels" of the ship, so to speak and not so great.

Any opinions? (we are looking for cat 10, connecting rooms)

We stayed on Deck 1 twice, the last time being in Room 1030 at the end of the hall near the Forward Elevator Lobby. It was an Oceanview room and we loved it. Never felt any motion that I recall and the only noise was for a moment as the gangway was lifted before leaving Nassau at night.

There was a door opposite our room that led right to the Forward Lobby which we usually had to ourselves. Would stay there again.

Enjoy your room there and spend all the money you will save on having fun.

I have not stayed on deck 1, but I've been on deck 2 and never really felt I was in the "bowels." I know it's the farthest passenger deck down, but personally I love being closer to the water and the motion should be minimal. If you decide on a porthole room, there will only be two small portholes instead of one large one like on deck 2. I have photos of that on my website. But for an inside stateroom, I don't think there would be much difference.

We stayed on deck 1 a few weeks ago and we really liked it. You don't feel like you are in the bowels of the ship. The motion was not a problem for us. We were close to our room when we got back on to the ship, which was great when we were exhausted and ready to take a break. We used the stairs a lot and didn't feel we had to use the elevators unless we were going to Deck 9. There aren't many rooms down there so there isn't much traffic in the hallways. My kids enjoyed talking to all the different CM's coming down the midship stairs to get to their areas.

The only "problem" with these rooms are the perception of the verandah people on the upper decks. They'll look down their noses at you and say "you're staying DOWN THERE?"

Heck, I love deck 2. Great rooms, big window to the ocean (at least 40 feet closer to the water than those in the verandahs up on decks 6, 7 and 8!

The added advantage is all of those stair you need to take to get up to deck 9 (lots of hard work but worth the extra room for desserts at dinner )
