We are booked to celebrate Christmas in Disney! Flying Halifax to Orlando <3

We just can't decide to cancel and reschedule. We were scheduled to go last year but it was a NO! My DD has battled severe health issues, we almost lost her in May 2019. This is something we promised her.. she will return to DISNEY!

I just don't know what to decide ... do we wait another month and see how things are???? Do we cancel now???? Decisions.. decisions..

not saying anything other than posting a warning to others who decide to respond and give reasons for your decisions: My response to the other thread asking for opinions was deleted, I was told I'm in violation of forum rules and the thread has been locked.

I refer you to the post that is now a sticky in all forums specifically mentioning:

"NOT veer into opinion or debate."
Covid-19 discussion policies

I'm glad to hear that your daughter has recovered enough for you to be planning a family vacay!

So to not veer into opinions lol I would suggest read others threads of their experiences and look at numbers and use that to judge your comfort level and risk factors to make an educated decision .
All the Best

We have a DCL cruise and DVC resort stay in Dec for the holidays. We are cautiously proceeding with booking and payments. However, I can empathize. It's difficult to know.

My suggestion would be to make plans that can be cancelled should things change. I have a contingency plan which has a contingency plan...so we have 3 possible scenarios for the holidays. Not sure which one we'll be doing.

Recent email new directive for my school's staff
Decision made for me.:sad2:

1.
I am required to self-isolate as a result of travel (not related to School Board business) by myself or someone in my household.
Employees are expected to be available for work when choosing to travel for discretionary reasons. Employees must account for any travel restrictions in place, including a quarantine period for travel.
***Employees whose return to work is delayed due to personal travel may be placed on leave without pay for the duration of the delay and may be subject to disciplinary action.***

2.
I am required to self-isolate as a result of activity that contravenes a public health measure.
***Employees who are not able to work due to activities that contravene public health measures may be placed on leave without pay for the duration of the isolation period and may be subject to disciplinary action.***

Kind of makes planning for travel this year difficult.
It is looking more and more like 2023 for me.

I’m confused by the wording. Is the email saying you have to self isolate even if you passed the requirements ( vaccinated and negative tests ) required by the government for travel ?

Ok a disclaimer here
I did not write this......HR did.

No it is just saying what will happen if you do come down with Covid as an action of your travel.

Sorry , I didn’t think you wrote it , I just didn’t understand their wording. I get it now .. basically it’s travel at your own risk because if you test positive on your way back in you could be disciplined for missing work to isolate . Sigh 😔

I would recommend to check with travel insurance companies first and make a decision based on the answers they will give you (this is what lead us to cancel all travel plans to the USA/cruises until 2022). And book everything « refundable/flexible » if you decide to book, just in case things change in between.

Leaving any type of health concerns out of the equation - for us, there's too much uncertainty and additional costs related to travel *right now*. We're currently booked for the beginning of Feb, have rescheduled multiple times already. You still have some time to decide, maybe just try to keep everyone's expectations reasonable, and allow yourself to get closer to your cancellation window before making any final decisions?

So difficult to know what the right thing to do is. There are travel insurance companies that cover Covid. We use Blue Cross and have used Tour+Med, both cover Covid if you’re vaccinated. Maybe phone insurance to see about coverage.
We just got back 2 weeks ago from WDW. I took precautions and wore mask where appropriate, washed or sanitized hands after every ride. Ate outside as often as I could. But neither of us have underlying health problems.
