well, here's the thing, guys. i'll admit that I read through the threads today re: fastpass limitations for pop century guests.

I really considered whether I should call my travel agent and switch resorts. but...I am not going to do that. i'll tell you why, just in case it helps ease anyone else's minds out there...not that I will ease anyone's mind...I've never even BEEN to disneyworld, haha. but here it goes.

I have been watching MDE app off and on over the past few months. it seems like most of the basic MK rides (dumbo, carousel, Aladdin, etc) have short wait times. it is mostly the major headliners that have lengthy waits/require fastpass.

I was pretty bummed to hear i'd only have 3 per day, especially after paying for a park hopper and choosing to stay in a resort specifically for its perks. but then I thought, you know, I have younger children (ages 9 and 8). are they REALLY going to give two hoots if we stand in line for half an hour to get on a ride? no. weather dependent, knowing my kids, they will sit their butts on the ground happily sticking stickers in an autograph book and doodling in diaries, simply pleased as punch to be IN Disneyworld to begin with. what are they going to do? stand in long lines to ride those with awesome reputations? or will they repeat the carousel over and over again and stand by watching dumbo in awe for hours simply because they are little girls with a love for the simple, most innnocent things in life? probably the latter.

it seems as though adults can get hung up on the technicalities of getting on rides without waits, doing things as efficiently as possible, strict itineraries, because we pay BIG BIG BIG bucks to go to Disney world. I know that feeling all too well - booking a trip that in all reality we probably can't really afford right now but saved my hard earned dollars for a Christmas present to my children, one they will never, ever forget. i want to maximize my dollars to the full extent and be sure it's money well spent. but...when they are adults and look back on their childhoods, are they going to think, gee, I can't believe we stood in lines so long, what a waste! no. I can imagine they will remember hugs from princesses, the excitement over autographs, riding in tea cups, dumbo, magic carpets, and more. riding on a safari with the giddy hopes of catching a glimpse of an animal.

oh great, now i'm actually sitting here like a total geek getting choked up and teary eyed! the looks on children's faces must be pure JOY in every sense of the word. lol. but you know what I mean? I was really wondering how this trip would pan out with all the changes...top it off with the fact that I've never been there and don't really know what to think of Disney world..i can't even imagine what it looks like in real life..

and I remind myself that regardless of pop century's potential disadvantage, my children are THRILLED over the thought of the flower shaped pool and tie dyed cheesecake. that will be a real highlight, no doubt. why would I change resorts after knowing how much they are going to love it? know what I mean?

this really puts things into perspective for me...perhaps i'm naïve...

Well that was an opus! I think you have the perfect attitude going into things. Do I think your girls will happily stand by watching dumbo with cute little smiles on their faces, maybe, maybe not. But seriously, pack some tissues because you sound just like me. You are going to need them, happy tears all the time in disney.

i'm still teared up about it...and i'm not even there yet! lol. i'll probably bawl my eyes out the first they see our resort room. i'm planning to sneak in beforehand and decorate it all for Christmas - and telling them santa must have paid a visit the night before. they will FREAK OUT with excitement.

Well I got choked up reading this and I don't know you! :-). You have an awesome attitude......and while i read this I went through my disney trips as a child. (My mom loves disney its the only vacation I know). I smile and think about my trips with my kids especially my daughters who are 21 17 and 17. And the fact that I have those memories. I'm so lucky and time goes by so fast. Even though its money you could surely use elsewhere the memories your creating just by planning with your girls is priceless! Have the best vacation ever! Btw took my youngest boy when he was 3 to the Pop.....he loved it so much he still talks about it and he's almost 7 :-)

I love your post!! WDW is amazing!! When we took our DD for the first time, the look on her face when she saw the castle, danced with Pooh, had lunch with Pooh and his friends, and squealed in delight when she saw Mickey for the first time was absolutely something I will never forget and she was only two!! Now we are going in 19days with our two girls and their excitement is contagious! While I stress about magic bands, Fastpass+, meals, flights, etc - she keeps me grounded about the magic that is Disney and what an absolutely magical place it is! No matter what, they will love it and come home with special memories! Have a great trip! It's truly a magical place!!

You are so right! I went to Disney every year as a child and I have no memories of standing in line, being bored, or being irritated at all, although I'm sure all of those things happened at some point. All I recall are happy memories of meeting characters, spending time with family (my grandmother was the only one who would ride Thunder Mountain with me!), and enjoying myself thoroughly. That is what your little ones will take home with them as well!

Awesome attitude and couldn't agree more. We've stood in lines, frozen ourselves to watch MVMCP, and enjoyed every second of it. The kids could care less b/c you are right. They are at Disney!
