I really need some advice from all of you experts out there.

I am going on a huge family trip next summer and need about 150 extra points. I am torn between buying a resale contract, purchasing at SSR or just paying a member for some transfer points.

I would love to hear any and all opinions, pro's and con's, and what all would be involved if I did buy via resale.

In part it depends on how you plan to stay. If you really only need the points next year, my first option would be to bank and borrow. Assuming you need 150 pts in addition, I'd just rent the points or pay to have them transferred. If you buy resale, it will take some time to get the points accessible. If you are planning a 3 BR OR high demand times like Xmas or Easter, the recommendations would be different than for other situations.

If this need for 150 points is a one-time shot, then I'd probably rent or transfer. However, if oyu are beginning to think you "need" 150 more points, then certainly consider purchasing.

Another thought, depending on time of year etc, the weekends can eat up a lot of points. Did you ever consider using points during the week, paying cash for the weekend nights, and then going back to points during the week? We have done that with a group, and while they don't guarantee that you'll stay in the same room, every time I've ever done it, we have never had to move.

Just another angle for your consideration.

Thanks for the replies.

We won't be using a Grand Villa it will be more like 7 studios for the five nights that all of the family is there (there's going to be 28 of us) and then additional time at Vero Beach for my immediate family and extra time at Disney for us as well. I love my family very much but I sure don't want to share a room with them!

We are probably going the last week of May or first week of June so it shouldn't be a real big problem to get. I'm figuring we will stay at OKW for the convienience of parking outside of the rooms for the older members of the family.

I only need extra points because I caved and went this summer, we were supposed to take a break and I just couldn't stand it. But I have had the itch to add on for quite some time. I know we will always be able to use those extra points by staying longer! I'm just not sure I should do it.

I suggest that you break this into two problems and look at them separately. Ganging the two problems together is making your decision harder, not easier.

First, forget about the upcoming vacation. Do you really want to go ahead with an add-on? If so, do you want to add onto SSR or buy a resale somewhere else?

Once you've figured that out, it will be much easier to decide what to do with your upcoming trip.
