Decision: Renew our AP's?

We have an annual tradition of attending the Halloween Party on the 31st
with friends of ours from FL. We already have our tickets and our room
reservations (thanks to their being Floriidians).

We check in on the 29th and check out on Nov. 2nd.

Here's the question: Our AP's expire on 10/30. Should we let them expire
and just pay for 2 days MYW tickets? I realize we could go before
Halloween next year. We usually take a few quick trips every year, but
they're always at the last minute. While we won't be able to do that with
AP rates, WDW sure seems to be offering attractive offers to the general
public. My DH seems to think we were treated with a little more "TLC" when
we used to go before we were passholders.

Any thoughts? I could sure use all of your expertise and opinions to help
us decide whether to renew our AP's this year.

Thanks!

we have decided not to renew our ap's because of the new reservation system and will just buy tickets when we go

I think that if I were not planning on going enough for the APs to pay off in gate admission I wouldn't renew mine. I wouldn't base my decision on the possibility of discounts

I'm not planning on renewing my AP's due to the "best rate" program. I'm not able to use this program because I'm going to be at WDW Oct. 12-16; when the program was implemented, I was locked out due to my dates. I ended up joining AAA and making a reservation at the Gaylord Palms. I have never received any special treatment being a passholder and now it is more cost effective for me to buy the MYW tickets.

Ditto from me... have you thought about staying offsite? The AP's were never meant for rooms, that is just the perk that came with it. If you will break even or come out ahead with an AP (count the days you go to the park), then don't pay more for My Way Tickets just because you cannot get a room discount.. just stay offsite. There are many nice places to stay. The AP will give you the free parking so you don't have to worry about that...

we're not renewing ours either. We did always get them for the room rates becuase we never went the 14 or whatever days to pay the pass off.

My APs expired in mid-August. I am going back to WDW in late Nov this year and again in Oct '06...total of 10-11 days. So, I didn't renew my AP because it would not have covered those two trips. But, I did just purchase a new AP with my DVC discount. If I hadn't gotten that discount, I would have ended up buying the MYW passes. In my case, it was more cost effective to buy the AP. And the ability to renew my DDE card, but after the Oct '06 trip, I don't think we'll be buying APs unless we continue to get discounts on them. But, I didn't buy mine for the room discounts either. Sure, I was happy to be able to get a discounted room but I bought mine basically for the savings on park enty. I had about 26 days on my Ap for last year.
