Decision on water

I can't decide whether to purchase Camelbaks for my family of four or buy the filtered water bottle and keep filling it up. The deal is this... to get a cheaper Camelbak and keep the weight down on our backs, there isnt much storage room or enough to hold our camera because I want a slimmer model. However, if my daughter takes her own backpack and I take mine and get the bottles that have filters in them, them we need a water bottle fanny pack carrier. I'm just trying to decide which is best. Has anyone used the filtered sports bottles? Has anyone purchased a camelback that is under $50.00 but has enough room for water AND a small camera and video camera?


On the other hand, anyone used both? Which do you prefer? We are going August 8th.

My wife and I used Katadyn water bottles while at Disney. They have a filter in the lid and made the water taste MUCH better. We just carried one around in our backpack and shared it. We made sure to refill it regularly and to get ice when possible.

i have a camel pack backpack...and it has room to keep water bottle, camera, and a bunch of other stuff and its really not that big at all. i got it at price club/cosco for about 20 or 25 dollars. im pretty sure BJ's and Sam's club has them too. There not big at all but you can fit the essentials in them.

Good to know. I plan on checking out both Katadyn and larger Camelbaks this weekend. I have seen Katadyns before and that is one of the items we have thought about. Are the filters easy to find? Is it heavy? What about durable. Do they make a size for kids?

I hate the taste of the water in the parks. It tastes like sewer to me. Why can't they do something about that?

The Katadyn water bottles seemed durable to us. The one drawback is they are not huge, but that makes them easier to carry in the parks. I am not sure if there is a kids size or not.

The filters work really well. We have not had to buy new filters, other than what came with the bottles, so I am not sure how easy or hard the filters are to find. However, I am sure they are expensive, since the bottles are about $30 apiece.

We don't bother bringing much water in- usually just 1 bottle- because you can get a FREE nice big cup of ice and (non-tap) water at any CS location around any park.

You know, we may just do that and stop worrying about Camelbaks and filtered bottles. It seems easier to just take a bottle in and refill at the CS stations. Thanks for the advice. 2 1/2 weeks til our trip!!! YAY, but who's counting?

The CamelBak fanny packs (actually called Camelbak FlashFlo) are ideal for Disney or any theme park trip. They do carry plenty of water and you can easily carry a digital camera and or phone. Also, your back will not get hot.

Just as a note, the CMs aren't really allowed to fill up your bottles if they have ever been used. Health Code regulations require that it be a fresh cup.
