We bought at AKV first because it was, at that time, the newest announced resort. We then bought BLT bfor the same reason and we knew we needed more points. Just waiting for the Grand Floridian announcement to add on again :thumbsup2

We finally bought when we found out that we could purchase less than 150 points through resell. Had we not bought resale...we would have bought the 100 points at AKV.

HOWEVER, it was all about Boardwalk Villas for us. We loved the theme, the location, and the value. BWV really provided the whole package.

That's a tough one to answer. We LOVE the value of OKW for both points needed for a stay and size of the units. We also like the theme and location. When we purchased, there was only a choice between BWV and OKW. We chose OKW because of the size of the units and point values at that time, so I guess my answer would be value.

When we added on AKV, it was definitely because of theme and location!

For us it was mostly location.

Others convinced us that past booking ability at 7 months is not reliable. Tens of thousands of new DVC owners in the last couple years and likely to be tens of thousands more in the future.

We knew we wanted to own where we could walk to one of our main parks (MK and Epcot). MNSSHP, MVMCP, and F&W are the times of year we prefer to go. Also, we like the MK resort restaurants and the Epcot restaurants.

Always thought we'd buy BCV (outside shot at BWV). When the webcast offered us $96/pt at BLT we started rethinking. In the end the discounted pricing, lower MFs, and 18 extra years was a better value for us.

I voted based on my first purchase, which was VWL. Theming all the way! I watched this resort for years before I bought it. Disney sent me literature, I belong to some Disney Club, watched it being built. I wanted it sooo bad. Just could not part with the money. When I finally convinced myself that I could, Well, now we own 7 contracts...4 resorts. Isn't that the way it works? Now, I am much pickier about money. The price has to really be right, or triple points. But, I am finished. Just not crazy about the recent changes.

Didn't vote since my reason wasn't listed...

We bought what DVC was selling at the time - SSR (didn't know there were other options). As it turns out we really enjoy our home resort and would add on there if we could (love AKV but, I think I'd prefer to add on at SSR so all our pts are in one resort and we'll have priority for the THV's).

So first purchase is what was offered by our guide...future purchases will be a combo of value and location.

For us, it was value. We plan to try all the resorts. If we purchase another share, it will then be on location/ our favorite resort.

We've made so many trips to WDW over the past 30 years and we were finally able to afford the purchase. I voted "cost per point" for that reason.:earsboy:

For us it's been a combination of things. When we 1st bought into DVC in 2006, it was financial and we bought into what was being sold at that time: SSR. The next add-on was AKV and it was more for the theming. Our last add-on was BLT and it was a combination of theming and location.

Definitely theme! At the time we bought, prices were (relatively) reasonable so cost wasn't an issue. And we did, at one time, own one of the "location" resorts, but have since sold our interest there as location in and of itself wasn't enough to keep us interested. But theme... ah yes! As we prepare to enter our 10th year as members, we are still blown away by the theme of our home resort.

We tried to buy a VWL resale as our first DVC purchase, and Disney bought it back. So, we looked into what DVC was selling direct, BWV, BCV and VB. We liked the value of BWV over the others, because of Standard Point villas, but we immediately added on with VWL. So, even though, it was the "value" of standard points that got us in, we were going for the "location of VWL" that's the one we really wanted! It's turned out great for us, we have bought 5 "homes" and if our SSR resale goes through, we'll soon have 6, and for each trip, we decide on what sort of vacation we want and go for it!

I am a firm believer in buy where you want to stay, so it was location that drove my decision to buy at the BWV. When I bought my points in 2004, they were selling SSR, and the guide who sold me the points was giving me the big push to buy there, telling me that I would be able to get into whatever resort I want at the 7 month window. But thinking about supply and demand, I knew that wouldn't be something I could count on. So, I paid a bit more and bought BWV points. Yes, I paid more, and I'll get less years, but I know I should be able to stay at a resort with a great location as long as I plan ahead.

I would say deciding factor was cost but when we bought in the early 90's we were also given 9 years of free park passes so that was a HUGE incentive.

We decided to buy into DVC after spending many Christmas vacations at WDW and spending between $400 and $500 a night for a room. When we decided to purchase DVC we waited until a contract at VWL opened up as that is the resort that we wanted to stay at the most. Getting a chance to reserve at the other resorts is an added bonus.
