Hello!

Hope you are well!

My name is Amy and, although I have been on here a few years, I haven't posted much and my shy-ness has led to me being a bit of a lurker (sorry!)

Anyhoooo, after deciding to not have a holiday this year, my boyfriend and I have somehow found ourselves researching Florida and now I am hell-bent of moving heaven and earth so we can go this year. We haven't been saving or planning at all....am I crazy?

Realistically, I don't know how viable our plan is....it really relies us on us finding cheap(ish) flights from Glasgow or Edinburgh to Sandford in either September, October or November. By cheap, I mean around the £500 mark each (I may need some pixie dust for *that* to happen!)

We went to Florida for 2 weeks in June 2011 and had the most amazing time. We've been to Paris several times before and went to California/Vegas last year but the mouse is calling our name again!

Am I crazy to think this is do-able?! :confused3

Not crazy at all! For October 500 may be doable :)

What is crazy is booking for the busiest time of year with only 6 weeks to plan - feel way out of my comfort zone as I've always booked a year in advance :)

Welcome back anyway :)

Thank you! I'm so excited to be even looking at Florida and get chatting to people on here - it gives me that warm fuzzy feeling in my tummy!

Excuse my ignorance but does October tend to be cheaper than September? I could do early October no problem but thought it would be more expensive!

Should also say that last time we were in Florida we stayed in the Hilton Downtown Disney and were really happy with it but want to stay near to Universal this time as my partner is a big HP fan and we also love Citywalk and would like to go there for a few drinks without the car one night. I'm really hoping to stay at either the Doubletree or Hyatt Place but, again, depends on cost whether we go at all!

How are you getting on with your search?!

Not crazy at all.... There's no harm in looking. On the plus side you wouldn't have to wait long after booking. Only down side I can think of is not being able to make all the dining reservations you may want to make, as you can start booking tables at restaurants 6 months in advance.
There's loads of places to stay on international drive close to universal. We even walked to universal a few times when we stayed in a nearby hotel. And you could probably find something basic and cheap if you're not too fussed. It is only a place to sleep, after all.

Hope you find something. For me, half the fun is in planning and then booking, and then planning what you want to do after you've booked! I'm sure you'll enjoy just looking too.

I am so obsessed with going now! At the moment, it's looking unlikely but I am considering a November trip - my bf isn't too keen though as he has convinced himself it will be cold then!

I agree that half the fun is in the planning - I'd be quite happy to book a trip March and start paying it up but he is determined that we need a 2 week holiday this year x

Would you rather have an okay 2 week holiday this year or an amazing 2 week Holiday next year. I know what I'd rather do!

not crazy at all - we do it all the time...
i suggest you go in september and look at the US site to see about the US free dining package....
it's in september..

let me see if i can find you a link with information..

here's a link to some information on the US disney site's free dining offer for sept 2013

Thanks so much, everyone on here is so helpful and lovely!

As we are planning on doing more universal/ioa/seaworld this trip, we aren't thinking of staying onsite this year. We've narrowed our 'requirements' down to the fact that we want somewhere that is within walking distance from Universal Studios (we dont mind walking quite a long way....think Hyatt Place, Double tree, Holiday Inn) that has free parking, no resort fees and, ideally, includes breakfast.

We've managed to find flights from Manchester for £450 so if we can find tickets, accomodation and car for cheap then we might be going! We almost booked Disneyland Paris today but with spending money it wasn't going to be muuuch cheaper for a 4 day trip!

check out hotwire secret for good prices for hotels. With a little work you can find out which hotel is being offered. There is also a website where experts will tell you which hotel is offered, cant find the link at the moment, but will post it later. We used it at Xmas and got our hotel 1/2 the price offered anywhere else.
