we were not able to find a decent flight out of Orlando on the day we check out at WDW. We went with an early AM flight the next morning, and decided it would be nice to explore Orlando a bit the day we check out then get a decent not to expensive hotel near the Airport for that night.

any suggestions?

WE have done this several times through Priceline and have never been disappointed...that being said, we have done our homework before bidding. Have bid on both 3 and 2 1/2 star places and received excellent hotels all 4 times. Never paid more than $45 per night

Check out biddingfortravel or betterbidding....

There's a La Quinta Inn at the northern end of the airport that was not bad. We stayed there back last August on our way to Philly (Sesame Place) and had to be at the airport at 5:30 AM. We figured it would be best to stay near the airport the night before. The hotel had pretty good reviews so we booked it. When we got there we saw that they were in the midst of remodeling a couple floors were afraid of noise and dust. Fortunately we had a newly remodeled room and the entire floor was nearly done. I'm sure they are done with the project by now. If you have time for breakfast, they have complementary fresh belgian waffles, cereals, danishes, toast. I think we paid less than $70 a night.

We found a Fairfield Inn by Marriott near the airport that includes free continental breakfast and airport shuttle. With our AAA discount it's only $99.35 including tax. We haven't stayed there yet, ressie is for the night before a Dis cruise in Feb, but the reviews on Expedia were pretty good. We're just looking for a clean place to sleep for 1 night. I'm counting on my hopes that Marriott wouldn't attach their name to a place with low standards.

I'd try Priceline and put in for a three or four star place.

PL works great. I'd bid on a 3* property, not all the 2 1/2* properties offer a 24/7 complimentary shuttle.
