decent hotels near Busch Gardens or Clearwater Beach

We are starting our Florida trip with a couple of days in the Tampa area so we can enjoy some beach time and spend a day at Busch Gardens. Looking for some affordable and decent hotel recommendations around that area. Thanks!

My family and I (wife, kids 11 and 7) have stayed at the Sheraton Sand Key Resort for the past 4 years. They have some expensive rooms ($300+) to some more moderate prices.

Nice quiet beach!

I've stayed at the Fairfield Inn (St Petersburg / Clearwater) a couple of times and that was very comfortable, clean and reasonably priced too.

We've used it as a place to stay after going to the Baseball, and then gone to Busch Gardens on our way back to Orlando the following day.
