So we are going December 6th to the 11th and I am at a loss on what to pack... I was there before in November and had freezing weather but my sister was there a week later and had hot swimming weather! Any suggestions would be very helpful!

Check the near term forecast a day or two before departing home to get the trend. Pack appropriately, being able to dress in layers. You may need a bit of everything.

We are there the same time and will pack for everything. We've been more than a few times in Dec and Jan, mostly because we find it the most mild and pleasant weather of the year there. We've have had days in the 80's, night's in the 40's, and both dry and EXTREMELY wet days...so we pack for everything, including swimsuits, and I must say we've used them every trip.
All and all it's the best weather season of the year for our taste, and all and all we have never been disappointed.

Hope you have a great time! :goodvibes

As Dan said Layers, Layers, Layers. We always venture to Disney around that time of year and have seen temps from high 80's down to the 20's (on different trips).

We pack about three pairs of pants, three pairs of shorts, As many teeshirts as you want, a sweatshirt, light jacket and of course our winter coats since we live up north. Usually pack an extra set of footwear such as sandals or crocs and that just about covers it. Of course you also need some cheap ponchos and maybe a set of gloves.

Be prepared for everything and hope for the best.

I was thinking of wearing our heavier coats on the plane and bringing some sweatshirts for really chilly days if they happen. Hats and gloves too? I didn't realize that it could get that cold in Florida in December. We've been in February and it got down to the 20's once while we were there. It was a frosty morning at Epcot that day!

By the way, how are coats handled at the airports? Do we need to take them off and put them through the x-ray machine? We have actually never traveled by plane since the new security regulations kicked in!

We were there in December of 2010. It was colder in Disney than it was at home in Ohio. Winter coats, hats and gloves were a must. The poor little "mine mine mine" seagulls at Epcot had icicles hanging off them. But by the end of the week we were in shorts and swimming.

Hats and gloves too, yes. It has been the rare Decemebr trip where I have not worn them some time during the trip.

And yes, coats have to come off and in a bin for x-ray for TSA.

Yep, we'll be there the first two weeks of Dec, and I've been told to bring EVERYTHING. LOL. Not that that makes packing any easier..I've been in mid November and early January..

So, I figure a couple of pairs of shorts, some jeans/pants, tshirts, long sleeve tops, a couple of sweatshirts, hoodys, light jackets.

I refuse to bring my winter coat, but I know DH will bring his.

I'll just layer up, plus I'm a hearty soul! So, I'm not worried about not having it when we leave NY or return from FL.

:cool1:we always go the first 2 weeks of December and it has been high 70's to low 30's......so ill where jeans and a t-shirt out and bring a thermal so I can put the thermal on later with my t-shirt over it...also bring a sweat shirt just incase and for my son who will be 4...same thing and ill bring some underarmor to put on under his clothes if it gets cold:thumbsup2

I was there that week too there was like a 40degree swing that week...

I would wait and see the forecast a couple of days before instead of automatically packing everything. I've had early December trips where it was low 80's everyday and I wore shorts during the day, just needed a light jacket for evening. Other trips that never got out of the 60's and I did bring a winter coat and gloves and used them for evenings, no shorts.

Before the "Freeze Out of 2010" the weather forecasts were 70's and sunny for that whole week. Then about two days later a front decided to drop farther south than expected thus bringing the winds from Canada all the way down to Orlando. Just saying if you depend on the weather guessers, you can be in trouble.

Thanks Dan!

I'm already a mess at the airport juggling shoes and Ziploc bags and carry-ons so why not add a coat? ;)

I checked and in the past it can range between 50-70 so we're planning for it to go either way by 10 degrees. We are packing 1 pr. of jeans and mostly capris for the girls with a few shorts/skorts in the mix. for the boys 1 pr of jeans, and shorts and t-shirt/sweat shirts. We'll take our winter jackets down since we're in NY but while there will rely on sweat shirts mostly.

We too were down there Dec 2010. I've been down there alot in Dec, but Dec 2010 was the coldest I have ever seen. I didn't know Florida could get that cold.:rotfl:

When we go in Dec we pack a little of everything (swimsuits, coats, shorts, long pants, t shirts, long sleeve shirts, fleece, wind pants, gloves, hats, etc). We'll be there Dec 6th-16th this year and that's what we plan on packing again.

As others have said--layers, layers, layers.

In '11 it was beautiful during the day but would get a little chilly once the sun set. Of course, it all depends on where you're from. We still had shorts and t-shirts on at night while the locals were wearing parkas.;)
