We are thinking of going back to WDW this December and I was wondering if anyone could tell me what the weather is like during that time? Our DD absolutely loves the pools and I didn't know if swimming in December in Orlando was do-able or not. Thanks!

We have hit "nice" weather in December, and I have always gone swimming. However, it has never been warm enough to spend hours at the pool, not in the water. I've always had to hurry back to the room to change. Sometimes, we are the only ones at the pool at any given time, since I prefer to swim in the morning, and I remember one afternoon at SSR when the community pool overlooking DTD was teeming with people, so it can go every which way.

We were there 12/16 to 12/23 of this year and it was FREEZING!!! So yes it can get very cold in Florida. I can remember as a kid growing up in Florida that most Christmas's were warm but every now and then it can get VERY COLD. Pack accordingly..................

I've gone several times in early December and saw temps in the 50's all the way up to the 80's.

I'm from the coast of South Carolina so our weather is very simillar (maybe 5-10 degrees cooler) and as the previous posters stated it can vary widely. There have been times in december when it has been inthe 70's and other times in the 40's, so it's hard to pln. But just to let you know, we are goig the beginning of December and when I called yesterday to book a 2 BR villa at the Wilderness Lodge they, along with the Beach Club and Boardwalk Villas, were completely booked and I was calling at exactly 7 months out. Our home resort is SSR, and that and OKW were the only DVC resorts available, so you need to make your plans quickly if you are planning to stay in a DVC resort.

Yep, those early December trips can have quite a wide range of weather. It is usually dry though, and very comfortable for those of us used to the northern climes! We usually bring a jacket, since we need it for the airport at home anyway.

Have done WDW twice for Christmas week and have had weather anywhere from the 40's to the mid 80's. Best to follow the boy scouts and "Be Prepared". We did Blizzard Beach Christmas Eve Day one year and the life guards had long pants and long sleeved jackets. The rest of us had bathing suits. My DD and DGD were the only ones in the big pool at one point but we had a blast and the pick of chairs anywhere in the park and temp was in the low to mid 70's. The lazy river was heated. Later that week the weather was in the high 70's or low 80's and the BB parking lot was full. New Year's Day was in the mid 80's and we hung out at the SAB pool until we had to get our plane in the afternoon. We also had days that we wore heavy coats and mittens. Just plan on layered clothing and hopefully you will get a couple of nice pool days.

We were at SSR last December from the 21st-27th. The weather was really cool and definite jacket weather at night. During the day I still wore a sweatshirt due to a constant breeze. While I certainly wouldn't go swimming, we did see a young girl and her father heading to the pool while we were waiting at the bus stop - brrrrr!

I have been going the sencond week in Dece, ber for many years and every year is different. Can't pack most things until it comes down to the 10 day forecast and even that in unpredictable. We have mostly done capris and t-shirts. Maybe a day or 2 could end up with shorts. But a jacket or sweatshirt in morning & evening. I think in all the years I have worn a tank top on a handful of times.

Sometimes we have had rain for a day or two so I always take the Mickey ponchos. It was never cold on rain days just a little wet. We still did everything as scheduled went to whatever park and had a blast in the rain. You pay a lot of money so just have fun, try to relax and take whatever weather come your way!! Have fun.

The Christmas decorations are amazing!!!

Last year was mighty cold in the evenings - glad we took our winter coats & gloves.

We're pretty hardy but, only got into pool 1 afternoon - don't think it ever got above mid-60's.

Still great weather to tromp around the parks in & we only saw a few sprinkles (and snow @ MGM & WDW;) ).

Usually though, daytimes are comfortable, with evenings and mornings the cool times.
