December use year...borrowing ahead?

Hi, all. I'm hoping I can explain this without confusing everyone. So, our use year begins in December and we are starting to wonder if this was a mistake! Our plan is to have a nice, long stay for Christmas in 2018 at our home resort (AKL) in the 2BR Savannah View. In order to do that we would need to bank, use, and borrow 17, 18, and 19's points.

HERE'S THE PROBLEM. Seeing as our use year doesn't start until December, booking our vacation at the 11 month window would put us booking in January 2018. But our 2017 use year would have just started the month before.

Would we, at the time of booking, be able to make that reservation having to borrow 2019's points, seeing as we would be in the 2017 use year at the time of booking, but when we actually go we would be in the 2018 use year? I've got a bad feeling the answer would be no...

You can borrow from your Dec 2019 UY as long as the stay will be during your Dec 2018 UY. Point usage (includes using banked/borrowed points) is determined by the dates of the stay.

Rule to remember: whether points you can use are "current" use year points, and whether you need to bank or can borrow depends solely on dates you will be at WDW not when you call or go online to reserve; thus when determining point usage for a trip, remove from your mind the day you call or go online to reserve and look only at the days you will be at WDW. A December 2018 trip is in your Dec 2018 use year. Your "current" use year points for that trip are your Dec 2018 points, you must bank any 2017 points before making the reservation to use them for the trip, and at time of making reservation (at 11 months out or less) you can borrow, if needed, from your Dec 2019 use year

Use year is irrelevant to your booking window. If you can book a trip, you can bank and borrow for it.
