December Trip Questions

We just got back this week but since we were bumped on our flight we have some free tickets coming our way!!! My husband and I will be celebrating our 10th anniversary in December and were thinking of using 2 of the tickets for a trip without the children to celebrate.

We have a lot of questions about going in December though. First, how is the weather? We are from Minnesota so we are used to extreme cold but is it warm enough to enjoy everything Disney has to offer during this time? Since we would be going mid-December and it is the value season, will the hours be really short at the parks? Are a lot of things closed during this time? How are the crowds?

Any help anyone could offer would be appreciated. My DH is not sold on the idea since we were just there and we are planning on going again next April with the whole family again. I would really like to be prepared for his concerns of a December visit so I could have an adult only Disney experience. Thanks!

We love to go the first week of Dec. The temps are usually mild. That said you can have days where the lows are around 32 degrees. You can have highs in the 80's. This last Dec it was colder than normal. I would check out the information on the following things going on at WDW,

1. Mickey's Very Merry Christmas Party. This is a ticketed event in the MK at night. They do all the holiday shows and the daytime Christmas parade. They have it snow on Mainstreet and all.

2. The Candlelight Processional. This is a mass choir and full orchestra(sp?). The have celeberties read the story of Christ with music. In our opinion is a not to be missed!!!

3. The Osborne lights at MGM. The Osborne family a few years ago had to take down all thier lights. They have a deal with Disney and last year they had like ove 5 million lights. (not too sure of the number but it is several million.)

All the resorts and parks are decorated for the season. In EPCOT they show how they celebrate the holiday season even if it is not Christmas they celebrate. The first 2 weeks of Dec the crowds are light. Feel free to ask any other questions you have.

Hello Fellow Minnesotian. We love going in Dec. Weather is usally warm enough for shorts. Not always. Sometimes it is pretty cold. You just have to hit the weather just right. The hours are shorter but the parks are not as busy. We are still able to see everything that we want to. The key is to get to the parks right when they open and spend all day. Everything is decorated for Christmas and Christmas music is playing. It is the only time of the year that we will go. I guess we just got spoiled.
