Hey there! I think I posted in the wrong spot earlier. Just wondering if anyone is going or has gone to WDW in December, the week before Christmas. We are going (first time for the kids - 3 boys, ages 5,7 and 9 at travel time) from Dec 17th until the 23rd. UG says that crowds are low until about the 22nd or 23rd, and then they get crazy. I'm hoping that we'll not have to wait in 60-90 minute lines. I'd love advice from those who have "been there and done that". Thanks!!!!!
PS - we're splitting our stay, 3 nights at AKL and 3 nights at the Poly and we arrive at MCO on the 17th at 11:06 from Charlotte. Anyone else on that flight or vacationing those days?
I"M GETTING SO EXCITED!:woohoo:

First of all, Have TONS of fun!!

I'm not sure how bad the crowds are that week, but the mad rush about the 22nd seems about right. You should be okay crowd wise, and I bet the temperature will be nice and cool! We're going down first week of December this year, and we only recently started flying instead of driving.

I hope you have a blast, too!
So are you flying from Charleston? We live in Myrtle Beach and our Spirit flight was cancelled twice, so now we're on US Air and connecting in Charlotte.

No, actually we're flying from Maryland. BWI or even Philly. We've only flown twice to Orlando, both times from Maryland. Both times I believe we got direct flights to MCO. We just moved from Charleston to Maryland, so when we lived there we would just drive. Charlotte's a really neat airport. :)

Hi, I don't post much but you've touched on a few of my favorite things....Disney in December and Myrtle Beach. My family of three go every Dec. alternating between the first and second weeks. This year we're going to be there the 12-18 then finishing the week with a Disney Cruise (first time ). We have found the crowds to be light in December. Usually with wait times less than 20 mins. This year is a week later for us so we'll see about crowds. My thinking is with the economy and the final week before the holiday we might just luck out...

We will be at Disney from Dec 5th-Dec 29th. We will also do nondisney parks and Christmas shopping!

We first leave home on Nov 28th and stay in Hollywood Beach Florida where we will stay for 3 nights and motor to Miami on Dec. 1st for a 5 day cruise to Key West and Cozumel, Mexcio before flying into Orlando to enjoy Disney and Christmas in Kissimmee!

Happy Travels Everyone!

DW and I (plus two pups) will be at Disney Dec 7-14 this year, staying at Fort Wilderness. We have been there twice in late November (at least 3 days after Thanksgiving), and loved it: the weather, the light crowds, the decorations... truly magical.

We went last year, Dec 19-23 and it was not crowded at all, until around Saturday Dec 22 afternoon and evening and was getting worse as we left on Sunday Dec 23.

This is the exact reason we chose the week we did, besides allowing me to take a 2 week vacation without having to use all my time off.

We didn't wait for any rides, most were walk on and others were maybe 5 minutes, including Soarin and we had gotten fastpasses for it that we didn't even need. We were really happy that it wasn't as crowded as the first week, when we went in 2006.

You will have a great time. Make sure to take some time to see all of the decorations at the resorts, especially GF and WL.

Suzanne
