Hello all:

I'm still a disboards novice and am still not sure if this should belong in the December thread or Restaurant thread, so I apologize if I'm in the wrong place.

But here it goes... I'll be staying at the Port Orleans Riversaid 12/10-15 and I was just wondering which restaurants people would recommend the most that would best give off the Christmas vibe via their menu and how it was decorated? :santa:

Thank you.

Do you mean where are the menus decorated, or where can you eat that has a holiday menu and is decorated???

I mean the items on the menu. Food that just sort of SCREAMS "YES!!! This is a Christmas type meal." And the atmosphere around the restaurant can make you feel the same way.

I'm from New England and a Christmas-aholic. Going to FLA in Dec. will be kind of a shock for me. I'd like to have at least 1 night that reminds me of home.

We went first two weeks of December last year. All the menus were just the standard ones.

But what we did enjoy was dining at resorts. We took time looking at the decorations/have photopass pics by the tree.

We did park fare dinner at GF, WCC at Wilderness lodge and Boma at AKLodge - all stunning trees.

The GF and FWL hotels are absolutly beautiful during the xmas season. Log on to resorts and after that click on to dining, you will see menus and photos. FWL is decoratred in an old fashion decor, you will love it. There are 2 restaurants there. The GF is just beautiful with a giant gingerbread house, tree and music. I think they have 4 restaurants. After you look at the menus re: prices etc. let us know what appeals to you. It is getting late because some people have been making ADR 180 days out. You may have to settle at this time. I am going during xmas week and I made diner reservations back in July, crazy, I know. It's the way disney works now. You will get something, I 'm sure. Have a look and come back.

They don't generally decorate the restaurants. The TS restaurants might have trees in the waiting area but that's pretty much it.

The resort lobbies are decorated.

Special holiday menus are usually available on Christmas Eve and Christmas Day only. You might find a seasonal item here and there.

1) Yep.
2) They place more emphasis on the resort and lobbies.
3) But, this is pretty much as it should be.
4) Just too many eateries to decorate.

NOTE: Most other resorts and theme parks do not overly decorate eateries, so it is not that strange to only see a few decorations tin restaruants.

hi. here's some good news. on our last trip over NYE we ate at Tony's Town Square and there was a christmas dessert on the menu, which i got and it was delicious!!! it was a mint cheesecake with a chocolate cookie crust and then a coco dusted image on the plate and tons of little candy cane sugar sprinkles. oh it was devine! other than that, i cant think of anything. I do agree, you MUST visit the deluxe resorts! plan your adrs there, like at Ohana or Kona, 1900 Park Fare, Chef Mickey's etc. They do fantastic holiday decorations, especially the Grand Floridian gingerbread house. There is also a gingerbread house in Epcot, America pavilion, entry to their QS, odd spot but worth the trip. Do the holiday storytellers at Epcot, they have different times so you can make your way around the world and stop to hear their story. I liked Italy the best. Be sure to see the Osbourne lights at DHS. Plan time to just hang around and watch the light show. Watch the castle lighting around 6pm at MK, it's spectacular!!!! It will surely feel like Christmas, dont worry, just make sure you research all the happenings and go see them! Fort Wilderness campground also does sleigh rides although i've never done it. Oh one other cool thing was at Downtown Disney they had a house set up to go see Santa Goofy! We got our pictures with him, that was adorable. I didnt see it listed online, we just stumbled upon it. I also didnt know that they had a carousel there either. OOOh, and there was a band set up over by Fulton's all decked out for Christmas.
