For all you West Coast experts -

We are considering a two week trip to CA starting Dec 15 thru Dec 29, with our 5 yr old twins. Since I am on the other side of the world -

I would like to travel from San Francisco to San Diego. Of course, with stops in DL, the touristy stuff in SF, LA, and San Diego. I am, however, leaning just to go between LA and San Diego since I think the weather might be a little nicer.

How is the weather this time of the year in CA? It can be quite cold here in New England. How are the crowds this time of the year in DL? I know that AAA is running some kind of discount on DL, but have not looked into it too much.

I know so much about the East Coast and trip planning to Disneyworld, but CA - not so much.

Any pointers would be appreciated. Have a great weekend.

Be sure to check out the thread about Other Things To Do In Southern California. We are adding things about destinations between SF and LA. :)

Weather - possibly rainy, rare frosts or freezes. Bring layers. It can be frosty in the early morning and in the 70's in the afternoon around here on some days! People often underestimate the need for windbrekers and rain gear, especially in SF and the mountains.

DL is packed between Christmas Eve and New Years, so you might want to arrange you schedule around that.
