I just checked the December hours and see now that both Saturdays (the 4th and 11th) have changes. MK is now open until midnight for both days. A sure indication of large crowds and resorts at capacity. Ouch!!

This explains why I'm having trouble making changes to my reservation for Dec. 10-13.:smooth:

Thanks for the update!! :sunny:

WOW- I hope that is only for the weekends! THe hours are the same for the weekdays of Dec. 6-10, I hope that means it won't be as crowded as the weekends!

Yikes. That is bad news! We are going to the Animal Kingdom on 12/4. Hopefully it won't be too busy.

It just stinks because every article and internet site lists the first week in December as the LEAST busy time, which is why I booked for that week. Just my luck that this year it'll be busy.

Wow - MK isn't even open that late the week between Christmas and New Years - except NYE of course.

It sure seems like a lot of people on the DIS are going in Dec.

2 Spectros on Sat also. :)

I will be doing MK on Friday the 3rd, in the day, doing AK during the day on the 4th, then back over to MK for the evening on the 4th for Wishes and late Spectro.

Thanks for the heads up!

I also noticed they changed the afternoon parade at MGM to the Hollywood Holly-Days Parade rather than Stars and Motorcars. Cool!

And while the calendar doesn't reflect this, the Special Events area says the parade at AK is Mickey's Jingle Jungle Parade beginning Nov. 30.

Counting down the days!

I was wondering if the WDW website was telling the truth about no resort availability during my stay (8-13). I was just being nosy, and couldn't believe there were no rooms to be had!

I'm not going to worry about crowds- not much I can do about it, anyway! At least there's MVMCP to get more park time, so we have a little more time to fit attractions in. What I'm most anxious about is to see what kind of weather we'll get!

joyciemc, I'm thinking it's correct, because I've called almost daily trying to change from the A/S Sports to whatever else and nothing is coming up each time, whether I ask for a AP rate or a CM rate. The CMs keep telling me there is nothing available 12/10-13. (Actually, it's the 10th, because if I check on the 11th, there is availability for the other 2 days.)

I finally changed my ressie. I've been calling daily trying to get moved from the A/S Sports to something else. I was offered the BWI today for the 3 night stay at a GREAT CAST rate....I just can't say, but it's an unbelieveable rate. I couldn't resist, so we have officially moved from 3 nights at the A/S Sports preferred to BWI-standard. Though I wanted a monorail resort, we've never stayed here, so it will be something new for us.

n2mm,

Glad to hear that you got to change your ressie! Have a great stay at the BWI!!!

They did a similar move in October by increasing the hours to 11PM a couple of Saturdays at MK at the last minute. They really weren't terribly crowded, however, so don't take it as an indicator that it's going to be mobbed. It's great because they do two Spectro's plus Wishes, so most people just hang out on Main Street and the Hub and the outlying areas and attractions like Splash, PotC, and HM had very short waits. Fantasyland, specificly Pan, was busy because of it's proximity to the crowds, but I found from 9PM-11PM after the fireworks was a great time to ride E-tickets with litte wait.

N.E.D.

I wouldn't worry about crowds being much heavier then usual. Last year the later times were posted just a few weeks before our trip. I remember scrambling around trying to change our itinerary. I don't remember the exact closing times but I just checked the photo time on my digital photos and it looks as if my last photo was taken at 10:41pm.

We were already psychologically prepared for large crowds, only because it was a Saturday night, an EE day at the MK and that both Spectro and Wishes were being presented. Wishes was still a bran new show. I honestly don't recall that the crowds were more then I expected in the first place.

I just noticed this last night:D Hey Dan! We have the same itinerary as you for Saturday the 4th- hope to run in to you:wave:

HOping the crowds won't be too bad...hadn't planned to go to any park on Sat., but DD and I might slip over to MK for Spcetro and Wishes that night. Funny, just last evening I printed out the "new" time schedule (I had one from Oct) and saw the MGM parade listed as HHDP, wondered what it is. COOL! Something new at WDW...This is our 3rd trip since DD and I bought APs last Jan. We alwoays love to go, but now there's something new to see!

Both MGM and AK will be having a holiday parade instead of their regular parades.

So do you guys think the hours for the 3rd saturday in Dec. will eventually change from 11pm to midnight?
