December flights

In past years have flights typically gone up the closer you get to departure or are there deals to be had. We are going Dec 11-19 from either Houston,Dallas or Austin. I read somewher that the best deals are 5 weeks before so should i wait till November? Thanks

Honestly, I would be worried sick. I am one of those that book tix the day they come out. I will then request travel credits if they decrease. SW, Jet blue, and now AirTran are doing this. I am very particular what time I leave and arrive and will only fly non stop. Are you looking at a particular airline?

Try Airtran. They have flights $89 one way now. They do charge checked baggage and seat reservation fee but they still came out the cheapest for me by a long shot. We are going 12/02 - 12/12. Good luck.

Check kayak.com as well. That will compare the legacy carriers and Jet Blue. Right now Air Tran is 79 there and 113 back. SW is 79 there arnd 142 back.
