December DVC Visitors

We stayed at OKW 12/6 - 12/17.

Resort: OKW
Room # : 6321
Size: 1br
Smoking or non: non
handicapped? No
dist. from elev. <50 ft. Stairway to parking lot directly in front of door.
patio: Y
view: not great. GV and golf course to left, OKW entrance road to right, guard shack visible in the distance. Golf cart path below patio. Very scruffy looking foliage all round. Noisy when on patio due to vehicle noise. We didn't mind, since it wasn't patio weather, but in warm weather it would have been annoying.

comments: Has new stovetop, couches, w/d. DVD player in living room. (If we'd known, we would have brought some Christmas DVDs!) Dishwasher racks were very hard to move. Dim light bulbs (as always).

All in all, an "average" OKW room, not particularly better or worse than our 30-odd previous OKW trips.

Resort: Beach Club Villas

Room #: 333

Size: 2-Bedroom Dedicated (2 queen beds in second bedroom)

Smoking or Non: NON

Handicapped?: No

Distance from Elevator: Fairly close. They "cluster" the doorways to four rooms around circular areas in the hallway -- two on each side of the hall. Room 333 is about the third cluster from the elevator -- maybe the 6th room or so on the right?? I should have paid better attention.

Patio: Two average size balconies. One off the living room, one off the master bedroom, none off the second bedroom.

View: Woods/wetland.

Comments: Our room was in excellent condition. There were some nicks in the dining room table (minor), and the handle on one of the cupboards over the refrigerator was loose/off (my 6' 4" son easily screwed that back on). A crib was brought immediately upon request, and it fit nicely between the two queen beds in the second bedroom. Also, our game cube plugged very easily into the front of the TV in the living room. The only thing I would do to improve this room is to add telephone access to the desk in the master bedroom. Unfortunately, the phone in that room is on a small, round table with a built in lamp beside the bed, and when I used my laptop, I had to carefully "balance" it on the edge of the table. It would have been more convenient to be at the desk. Air conditioning and water pressure were fine. No complaints at all, there.

Resort: Beach Club Villas

Room #: 339

Size: Studio

Smoking or Non: NON

Handicapped?: No

Distance from Elevator: Fairly close.

Patio: One average size balcony.

View: Woods/wetland.

Comments: I did not stay in this room and only visited it once, so I can't say much about its condition other than . . .

It appeared to be very clean. My daughter and son-in-law (SIL) had no complaints about the water pressure or anything being broken. And, my SIL really seemed to like the pull-out sofa.

Resort: Boardwalk Villas 12/21-12/26

Room #: 1085

Size: Studio w/Daybed - Standard View

Smoking or Non: NON

Handicapped?: No

Distance from Elevator: Short -/ At the end of our section of the hall (maybe 6 rooms down)

Patio: Ground Floor-Located on same floor as fitness room

View: Boardwalk entrance

Comments: I have to admit that I loved the convenience of this room. We were just a short walk from the elevators and the laundry room was just a few rooms down the hall. Directly across our studio door was the door that exited out to Luna Park pool (when we went out we were just behind the pool bar/concession area - Leaping Horse Libations). My 10 year old and 5 year old fought over the daybed. Apparently they were both comfortable sleeping in it.

All in all, a fabulous studio room and couldn't ask for a better location.

Resort: WLV Dec. 2-9 (not long enough:( )

Room: 2519

Size: Dedicated 2-Bedroom- Corner unit in lobby corridor located
located just above Sturdy Branches

Smoking or non: Non-smoking

Handicapped: No

Distance from elevator: Very short walk, only one room between

Patio: Balcony off of living room

View: Wing of main body of WL, partial pool view, woods view from windows

Comments: This room made my DW realize why we joined DVC.
She was skeptical even after our 1st trip home in a
studio. Not knocking the studios, in fact next two
trips will be in studios, but that first trip was still
in commando touring mode. No more of that! We
walked into Rm. 2519 and knew we had made a
good decision to join DVC. Great room! MIL went
on this trip, she had her own bedroom, never felt
like we were running into each other, felt like we
all had privacy. Loved having that washer/dryer,
and the big refrig. was a plus also. CM at front
desk told me this was one of the most requested
rooms. We saw it firsthand why.

Resort -- Boardwalk
Room #-- 5077/5079
View -- Standard View
Size -- 2 Bedroom lockoff
Smoking or non -- Non
handicapped? -- No
dist. from elev.-- 3rd group of rooms from elevator
patio --2 balconies
view --overlooking front entrance
comments-- Loved the room, convenient location, very quick to the pool and the Boardwalk. Good condition, there was a broken knob on a drawer, otherwise everything else was in good shape. One balcony door did not stay shut unless you locked it, but that was not a problem.

We were in 2 OKW studios at Thanksgiving.

#4916
Non-smoking, non-HC. Small patio with small table and 2 chairs, view of golf course/water mostly obstructed by foliage. Ground floor. Room was in great shape. Far from Hospitality House, this room is the last on the left in a large building close to the end corner of the resort. Minor road noise outside, quiet inside. Close walk to Southpoint bus stop and Turtle Pond Pool.

#4910
Non-smoking, non-HC, ground floor. Small patio with small table and two chairs, view of the golf course/water mostly obstructed by foliage. Room was in perfect shape. This studio is the last on the right of this building, close to the Southpoint bus turnaround. Bus noise outside, none inside. Close walk on path to Turtle Pond Pool. About as far as possible from Hospitality House, yet right by bus stop.
