I'm having to cancel our upcoming trip:guilty: This was to be an Anniversary trip just for DH and I. 2 days at AKL (Savannah view!) and 3 days at HHI. I've gotten a cut in my cornea and a nasty infection to match. While it will probably be healed by next week, I'm on antibiotics that require you to stay out of the sun:scared1:.... That pretty much kills parks, beach, etc.

I know all my points will become only-usable-60-days-out, but I have until February to use them. Sooo, I'm thinking DH finishes teaching Dec 15th and that leaves a whole week until Christmas. He's never seen the holiday decorations at WDW. What are the odds I will be able to score ANYTHING that week in December at 60 days out? I figure I could put us in a Studio or 1 bedroom or (even better) get 2 bedrooms and talk DS into coming with wife and grandbaby!!! I know it will be pricey, but we were splurging on the canceled trip, so there will be over 200 points to use (or lose).

So, whaddaya think? How are December ressies looking? Do you think the economy has slowed things enough that there might be a little wiggle room?

If you are looking more than a couple of days, I think you will end up moving around a lot. While it's possible (you never really know until you try), I think that's a tough time to have to use holding points.

Sorry about the infection - hop eit heals quickly!

Good luck with your eye and you just never know about December. You may end up at different resorts and then a week out you may score. It's really hard to tell but that is a very popular time of year. The decorations are fabulous and I love it :santa:- I have been there every Nov/Dec for the last 11 years and and plan to be there every year until 2041.

First time I ever took DS to WDW was at Christmas time - he was 7, so a long time ago. It was just wonderful! Thanks to DVC we won't be real anxious to get on rides - we can just walk around and gawk at decorations.

We might be able to travel in January, but it's a busy time with work for both DH and I, so I don't want to count on it. Late December is actually much slower.

Thanks for the good thoughts about the eye. I had this happen about 6 months ago and didn't get it looked at quick enough. The eye ended up ulcerated and it got a little worrisome about whether it would heal. So, with that history, and this a repeat, (though not nearly as bad) I don't want to take any chances with not following doctor's orders to the letter.

Hopefully I can pull this off and make lemonade out of lemons!

I just wanted to say I just had the same thing happen, but I didn't let it go that long, so I'm glad your okay. Had some kind of abrasion and let it go a week thinking it would get better - turned into an ulcer and a BUNCH of opthamologist (wow - how do you spell that?) trips, antibiotics, steroids, the works! So I really FEEL your pain! I hope your points situation works out for December - WDW is beautiful around the holiday!

I think you have a chance at OKW or SS if you are flexible about your week. You just never know. Hope you are feeling better.

Keep in mind that also at 60 days, any non-reserved DVC villas are made available to CRO for cash reservations. So you'd be competing with cash customers for those same dates.
