December - Disneyland style

Well, life threw us curve balls and our Disneyland trip was postponed, we're thinking December now. Specifically, Saturday December 11-Thursday December 16th. I have a few questions concerning December, Disneyland style.

What time of year do they usually come out with deals for the holiday season? You know what I mean, like the one now where you pay 3 day park hopper prices for a 5 day park hopper ticket...

Does anyone know when peak December season usually starts? I'm wondering for firework purposes.

When do the decorations change from Autum/Halloween to Winter/Christmasy?

My daughter is a huge Nightmare Before Christmas fan, and I cannot for the life of me remember if Jack is out for Halloween only, or if he stays through the Christmas season - anyone know?

And lastly, I've heard tell about how HM gets shut down for Halloween decorations, do they then change it again for the Christmas season? IASW gets changed, doesn't it? What other rides get switched to a more wintery theme?

TIA!!! I saw the Christmas thread started this time last year, and tried going backwards to get all this info but there are 53 pages! :scared1:

Wow! That was weird - I typed a reply, and was about to go through your questions one by one, and all of a sudden it just posted on its own and told me it was a duplicate. So I went in to delete my duplicate and it deleted my original post too.

So here is what I said:

You don't have to read the whole "Disney at Christmas" super thread to get answers! You can always just post a question in that thread - we answer the same stuff over and over. It doesn't matter! It's a fun, magical thread (that's why it's so popular)! Come join us. That's what it's there for - it's the Disney at Christmas super thread!! We're trying to consolidate as much Christmas info/questions/photos into one thread as possible so we don't have 153 holiday threads!:rotfl2:

And I am now going to answer your questions in a separate post!:rotfl2: There is some crazy technical stuff happening.

We were there last Christmas season, December 18th-20th, 2009.

I don't know about deals, since we only did two days in the park on that trip...

There were fireworks every night we were there. I think that's typical of the week before Christmas. Although, nothing is certain, even from year to year, and they are doing some weird things with the Halloween fireworks this year...

Changeover form Halloween to Christmas happens during the first week of November. At least it did when we were there November 2nd-6th, 2008.

I think Jack's only out for Halloweentime. Sorry!

Haunted Mansion gets a Nightmare Before Christmas overlay that lasts through Halloween and Christmastime. And it's great! Besides IASW, I can't think of any other rides that get an overlay, but there's other fun Christmas fun all over the park.

Have so much fun!! I love Disneyland at Christmas!!

I will bold my answers below:

There won't be any ticket deals like that during the holiday season, sadly.

The holidays get much busier around mid-December and on through to New Year's. The fireworks should be happening all through the holiday season in their usual holiday schedule.

When do the decorations change from Autum/Halloween to Winter/Christmasy?

HalloweenTime ends right after 10/31. All the decorations come down immediately and the holiday stuff starts to go up right away, slowly. The holiday season will officially start and be in full swing, with full entertainment and decorations, on either 11/12 or 11/19 this year. We don't know yet.

I've never seen Jack and Sally out for Christmas season, but that could always change. I may have just missed seeing him.....

Haunted Mansion Holiday goes up on September 17th and will stay in place until after New Year's.....IASW Holiday is awesome, especially at night. Storybook Land Canal boats' mini villages and houses get ornaments and Christmas decorations.
