December Crowds (8th-16th)

I am curious to know what the crowds are like during the early half of December. My family usually goes in mid May or late September. I read different reviews stating no crowds to moderate/high crowds. I thought it better to ask people that go regularly and have been recently. Regardless of the crowds I am still going I just want to prepare myself and my family mentally before we leave for our trip. Thanks in advance for any information.

We went 12/13/02 thru 12/24/02 and found there were not any crowds until around the 20th of December. At that point it became incredible crowded, but we had already been at the parks and been at Universal so it didn't matter to us.

We've gone the first or second week of Dec the past 6 years and in general we've never hit big crowds. The one exception I can recall is at MK when Spectromagic was being shown that night.

VooDooBoy - I've been in May, Sept. and Early Dec. I think that Eary December will be more crowded than September, about the same (or maybe even a little less crowded) as May. It seems that each year (IMHO), Eary December gets just a wee bit more crowded - probably owing to all of the guidebooks that tout it as being the best time of the year to go - but it's still one of my favorites!!!

That sounds great, I am just hoping (as is the rest of my family) that the crowds are still relativly manangeable. This trip will be a first for a few of our family members and I don't want them to be intimidated by the crowds. Thanks for all of your input.

We were there from the 14th through the 21st this past year. Sometime around 2pm on Friday the 19th a switch was flipped and the crowds became bothersome. On Saturday the 20th, it was very crowded! I hope this helps. Maggie

We were there the first week of December 2003, and the crowds were very manageable. We didn't have to wait longer than about 15 minutes for anything.

We went 12/9-12/16 2003 and had very light crowds. It was so wonderful that it convinced my DH we could go again in 2004!

That's exactly when we went last December It's a great time to go ... I found the weather a little on the cool side but the crowds were great. The wait times are very low 10-15 minutes while some rides are a walk-on! The weekends, especially at MK were quite busy ... they were super busy on the days when they were taping for the parade. Make sure you go to MVMCP ... its a very cool event!

With the exception of Fantasyland in the afternoon, we had 10 minute waits on everything when DH and I went Dec. 15-19 2003. It was so nice, especially with all the Christmas decorations, that we're going back in 2006!

ETA: Oh, but it was COLD! We went from tank tops and shorts on Tuesday to heavy sweatshirts and hot chocolate on Wednesday and the rest of the week!
