What's everyone getting for a rate?? We will be there from the 23rd-29th, not finding anything less than $500...even with coupons. Looking at full-size, as the kids are teenagers and need their space!!

I booked our SUV for our 10 day stay months ago. I am so glad I did, the rates right now are unreal! I really can't believe how high they are.

I would just keep looking, every day, until you get something decent, then book it! Still keep watching though, you might end up with a better deal as it gets closer.

I booked a midsize with mousesavers suggestion of the Orlando Magicard code for Dollar. Dec. 3-8 for $185. Then about a week ago I checked again on Dollar with no code. Got a midsize for $140 (including all taxes and fees). You just never know. You need to keep checking. You can make a reservation to be sure of having a car, and then book at a lower rate if you find one. Then cancel the previous reservation.

Good luck, Bob

Christmas is one of the worst times for a car rental! I always book my car in January before just as the rates come out and before they crank them up. I just check Endicia and Travelocity on your dates and even the Economy cars are going for over $400 per week! Yikes!

Do you have an American Express card? Can you get one? Mousesavers has a good code for National here: http://www.mousesavers.com/national.html

I just plugged in the Amex Code 5125601 into National for your dates and got this:

Base Rate - Fullsize (USD)
(1) Time & Distance ($161.94/Variable) $161.94
Rate/Product Code B39401

Last Christmas we were there the same week as this coming year and we paid just a little over $200 for 8 days, with National for a minivan. I usually never book my rentals until a month or two out and had no issues at all last year. But this year, YIKES! Maybe the prices will go down as we get closer.

I'm working on a nov rental and my rates are not much better.

September rates are pretty painful, too. :guilty: We have decided to take ME to the hotel and get the rental car at National - Dolphin location the next day and then return it the day before we leave and go back to the airport on ME. That will save us about $100. Not ideal, but certainly worth the savings. ;)

If you do have american express, you can book an intermediate and use a double upgrade coupon from BJ which you get in their travel book in the warehouse itself, not online, for a full size car 4 door car or a compact and get a 2 door/ 4 door full size car and save some more dollars.

As for Dollar, I would love to use them but unless you use the Orlando Card with hardly any discount, they charge you 8.00 a day for an additional driver. Makes the cheaper price not so cheap.

Well, I solved my issue with a car. I had a condo booked to stay at, but cancelled and now staying at CBR so a car is not a "must have". If anything, may need to get one for a day or so, but won't worry about it so much now!
