December Camping?

How crowded is FW in early December? I would assume that FW is more crowded this time of year then the other hotels because of all the snowbirds coming down in their RV's but does it get packed?

Also, I'm fairly new to this board but have been observing here and then and wanted to say thanks to all the other posters here. I've learned a lot of things that I would never even think to ask already!

Actually I have always found early to mid December nice and quiet. Generally kids are still in school so it helps keep the crowds down.

We haven't been in December yet, but I called this past Dec. 27 for reservations for Dec. 16 -23, 2004 and all that was available was partial hookup, so I'd say they're probably pretty crowded! I'm hoping for a cancellation on a full or preferred, and also some discounts!

Edit: Sorry, I just realized you said "early" December. I don't guess the 16th would qualify as early.

We usually go to FW the first week of Dec. The crowds are usually lighter than normal. The closer to Christmas the more packed it gets. We use to go the week before Christmas, It was always so crowded.

We went Dec 9-19 in 2000. It was wonderful until about the 15th. We had most of the loop to ourselves.
The parks were also very quiet. We never waited more then 10 minutes for anything, and didn't even need fast pass.
I wish we could go at that time now, but with kids in high school, it's just not possible.

Thanks for all the feedback on this. We are planning on camping Dec. 6 - 18th and are happy to know that the campgrounds shouldn't be that crowded for most of our stay.

Looking forward to going to the parks when it isn't jam-packed with 60 minute lines for the major attractions.

Also looking forward to seeing the Christmas decorations up. We've never been there during the holidays before.
