December Airfare

Why is airfare from PHL over $500 per person for Christmas week? I have gone almost every year during that week and never paid that much. Always had a non-stop flight too. Christmas week is usually high but never that high. It's usually around $325 per person for a non-stop flight from PHL to MCO during that time. I've been checking prices everyday for the past 5 weeks and they have not budged.

We bought our Christmas week flights on the day Jetblue released the fares (mid-March). Roundtrip from Syracuse, New York (non-stop both ways) we paid $401 pp. Current prices for the same flights are $522, and our flight there is already showing as almost half full.

The airlines are going to charge what the market will bear, and we northerners want to get away and get warm for the holidays . I am expecting that those fares will only go up from here, especially when seats seem to be selling well and its only spring.
