DECEMBER 8, 2014 Dream Mouse Meet!

Hi All! Never joined a DIS discussion board before, but here I am. :) This will be our 5th DCL cruise, 4th on the Dream. For those that haven't been, Christmas time is BEAUTIFUL on board. Our daughter will be one-and-a-half on this cruise. We've also convinced my sister in law and her family to join us. It will be their first. I've been bouncing off the walls the past few days about the cruise. Getting ready to book Palo and all the other fun stuff. Joined the FB group just a few minutes ago. Still considering doing FE. We've never done it before, but it sounds like fun! A must do on the ship is the the adults only behind the scenes tour. I believe it's called "Making the Dream". All kinds of cool facts about DCL and the Dream. Most helpful thing I've learned from it in the past is how to know where you are and which direction you are headed when on the interior of the ship just by looking at the carpet. The floors in the hallways have stars on them. The tip of the star points forward (front of ship). Also, when you are near the elevators, look at the carpet. If you are at the aft elevators, the floor design is yellow (sand). Mid ship is blue (water). Forward elevators have red carpeting design (blood, you've swam out too far and were bit by a shark). This was very helpful multiple times. Also, go to the mid ship elevators. Wait for the one that is on the starboard side (right if you're facing forward) and it's the most forward of the 2 or 3 elevators. It's the only elevator that will take you to Outlook. A quiet, hidden gem on deck 14. We love to hang out there and watch the sun set. There is rarely anyone up there and it has beautiful views. There is also a baby grand up there in case you get the hankering. So yeah, that's a bit of my obsessive craziness. :cool1: Let me now if you need anything. :) ~Brandi

Great information! I hope I remember everything, especially Outlook on deck 14. Thank you for sharing!

We have done disney world numerous times and decided to try cruising.
It is nice to see other people that will be on the same cruise.
There will be my dw, dd12, ds8, ds5.
Our boys are best friends and can play together all day. My concern is my dd12 and really hoping she meets a girl the same age she can hangout with at the tween club..
I will checkout the fb page
Thanks

Welcome aboard! Looking forward to meeting all of you. I hope you fall in love with cruising as much as we have. It really is as different as night and day from the parks, but we find the cruises fit our relaxed way of life so perfectly!

love the name. you are bubbie? is there a zaydie or other name? about to be a bubbie first time..

My grandson started calling me Bubbie when he started talking so that is my name my grandchildren call me. Serenity is the name of our little cabin in NC. My name is Darlene. :)

ohhh. my first is coming in march so i have time. ive just never forgotten that MY mother wanted bubbie and her sister said she wasnt old enough to be a bubbie!! (she was 63!). so i want it for that reason also...just cant decide. the other grandma has a nickname from her other grands so i can choose whatever i want and i just cant decide!!

My daughter said I could pick whatever name I wanted. I am Spanish so as a nickname for abuelita(that is what we called our grandmother) I came up with Lita for short. Everyone called me Lita, everyone except my grandson. He called me Bubbie and that is that. I just love it. I was 52 when he was born.

Thank you for sharing! Congratulations on having your first grandchild next year. They are wonderful! Will have both of mine on this cruise.

Welcome Betty! Glad to see you have found us. How fun to surprise your son at the port. We almost did that with my husband's daughter...but ended up telling her the morning of the cruise before we left the house. She was 13 so we knew she would probably want to pack some of her own things as well. But it's always fun to have a last minute surprise!

We just booked today, I was needing a Disney fix, even though we just got off the Fantasy in Oct. It's just me and my DH, both retired military/govt living in Cozumel now.

dh and i are also both retired govt but from maryland. welcome aboard.not much time but there's a fb page thats a LOT more active thatn this if you want to find it. i dont know how to tell you how!! sorry
