DECEMBER 8, 2014 Dream Mouse Meet!

Anyone help with tips:We are treating ourselves so have 2 questions:

1. Our room is in conceirge. will our room tips be higher? (presume dining will be the same).

2. since you say sun to DH he gets burnt we splurged for a cabana - and got one! yeah!! We dont really drink, so we arent getting a special package (i'll drink but in the heat prefer water and soda). So what and who do we tip at the cabana? (assume thats cash?)

thanks! cant wait - less than 120 days!

Your tips will be calculated the same. We just tip the Concierge(s) cash on last night. Depending on how much they do, we tip $25-$75 each.

On our last cruise one of our concierges was also our cabana attendant so we just tipped her more.

Thanks. that helps mostly. are tips for the concierge not prepaid? or did u just up them? and if that person had not bee the cabana person how much would you have? thanks!

Tips are not prepaid. It's not a tipped position.

I probably would tip 25-50 for cabana attendant - depending one what you ask of them and what they do for you.

Hello,
This will be our 3rd cruise on Dec 8, 2014. We did Bahamas on the Wonder in Dec 2010, Eastern Caribbean on the Fantasy in Dec 2013. We just love the Dec cruises with all the christmas decorations. We've even put a deposit on a Dec 2015 cruise.

We've added 1 night POR the night before (Dec 7) plus 7 nights after at CSR.

Looking forward to a magical Dec vacation!!!

Welcome aboard! We have been on the Magic during the Christmas season and loved the decorations...interested in seeing the decorations on the Dream now!

Welcome aboard!!!
Thank you! My husband and I have been on many cruises but this is our first Disney and our first with our family. We will be with our two grown daughters, our son-in-law and two beautiful grand children, 5 year old Parker and 3 year old Daisy. We are so excited to see their little faces!

How fun! We have been on several cruises as well, with many cruise lines. Disney always seems to win out though. This will be my 7th on DCL. We have done family reunion type cruises before we several family members, but always on RCI (I can't seem to convince everyone DCL is best! LOL).

Are you going to join the Fish Extender Exchange?

Would love to join the Fish Extender a Exchange but do not know much about it. Have been searching on line for info. What can you tell me? Is there a place/web to order the little hangers with pockets?

I have been researching these fish extenders and it sounds like fun! Do you know of a web site where they can be ordered? Have you done these in the past?

I have! Too many times! LOL I made my first FE, which was a total failure (I am not a sewer by any means). Since then I have ordered three from Etsy, with my favorite coming from Gradysmommy. Just search that name in Etsy and her shop will come up. Unfortunately she gets super busy so you would need to order it with some lead-time built in. There are some that can be found on ebay as well...just search "fish extender" and they should pop up. You can definitely make your own though. Let me know if you need instructions.

What I can tell you...it's really anything goes! Size of groups vary by your particular cruise (I was in one as small as eight cabins, and one that had 37 cabins!). This cruise has capped groups at 15 cabins each. I have always done mine as one gift only (there are a handful of nutty folks out there that will give a gift to people everyday...too much for me to worry about...if I have multiple items, they all go in one bag!). As for how to give, I have done a cabin gift once, a gift for the adults with separate gifts for kids once, and the rest of the time separate gifts for everyone. WhenI break it down for individual gifts, they are smaller than a single gift for the entire cabin. And we have received everything...from local to the giver's area magnets (my favorite!) to candy (hubby's favorite! LOL) to mini photo albums. Let me know if you have any other questions!

Thank you. Will look into these. What do you do if you want to participate?

I sent you a PM with the link to the FE sign-up, which is on Google docs. You won't be able to PM back until you have 10 posts, but I believe you should be able to receive messages, and it looks like the one I sent went through. The Minnie Group is the current open group. Each one is limited to 15 cabins. It looks like we may be starting a third group soon!

You can also access the Google doc if you join the Facebook group.

I did not read this post so of course I tried to reply. I did not understand why I could not reply until reading your new post. Thank you for the information. Will be back home on Sunday and will have our cabin info then. You have been a great help!

Signed up for FE today. So excited! Saw your name. Look forward to meeting you!

Awesome! I think we are going to try and schedule at least one meet on embarkation day in the afternoon and one meet on our At Sea day. If no one else takes the reins on that, I will go ahead and schedule them. Looking forward to meeting you also! :goodvibes

Hi All! Never joined a DIS discussion board before, but here I am. :)

This will be our 5th DCL cruise, 4th on the Dream. For those that haven't been, Christmas time is BEAUTIFUL on board. Our daughter will be one-and-a-half on this cruise. We've also convinced my sister in law and her family to join us. It will be their first. I've been bouncing off the walls the past few days about the cruise. Getting ready to book Palo and all the other fun stuff.

Joined the FB group just a few minutes ago. Still considering doing FE. We've never done it before, but it sounds like fun!

A must do on the ship is the the adults only behind the scenes tour. I believe it's called "Making the Dream". All kinds of cool facts about DCL and the Dream. Most helpful thing I've learned from it in the past is how to know where you are and which direction you are headed when on the interior of the ship just by looking at the carpet.

The floors in the hallways have stars on them. The tip of the star points forward (front of ship). Also, when you are near the elevators, look at the carpet. If you are at the aft elevators, the floor design is yellow (sand). Mid ship is blue (water). Forward elevators have red carpeting design (blood, you've swam out too far and were bit by a shark). This was very helpful multiple times.

Also, go to the mid ship elevators. Wait for the one that is on the starboard side (right if you're facing forward) and it's the most forward of the 2 or 3 elevators. It's the only elevator that will take you to Outlook. A quiet, hidden gem on deck 14. We love to hang out there and watch the sun set. There is rarely anyone up there and it has beautiful views. There is also a baby grand up there in case you get the hankering.

So yeah, that's a bit of my obsessive craziness. :cool1:

Let me now if you need anything. :)

Welcome aboard Brandi!

We love sailing DCL at Christmastime also! This will be our first Dream sailing during the holidays, so it will be interesting to see how it stacks up to the classic ships (which we prefer to begin with!).

I hope you join us for the FE...it's always a good way to spread some magic (and also receive some as well!). The biggest group we participated in was 37 cabins...oy! This sailing has limited each group to 15 cabins, which makes it much easier to handle (although I have joined the first two groups already, and am contemplating whether to join the third). My mom and I sailed with a group that was just 7 cabins. Since it was a 3-night cruise, that was a nice number actually.

Will you be doing Palo? We always have dinner there...have already done our online check-in and all that good stuff. Now it's just waiting for the cruise to get here!
