December 7,2013 Wonder from Galveston

 Hi...we just booked this cruise!!! Looking forward to chatting with you. It will be me (Monika) and my DH (Michael). We are from Delaware. This will be our 12th Disney cruise.

Is there a Facebook group? We would like to join in the FE gift exchange. Saw the license plates and other door designs--very nice. Love the license plates!!!

We will be cruising on the Wonder on May 20th...repositioning cruise out of Los Angeles. Love cruising with Disney.

Is anyone familiar with Galveston? We would like to spend a day or so there before or after the cruise...we've never been...any suggestions on places to go?

Take care. :)

Welcome Monika! Wow, 12th cruise! You're a pro! :) As far as spending any time in Galveston, I've only spent the night there. I can recommend a great place to eat! Gaidos! It's on Seawall and it's a seafood place that has been there for years. It's VERY good. My co-workers told me about it and they weren't lying! The four of us can't wait to go back!

I just created a FB Group for us!

It's called: Disney Wonder- Dec 7, 2013- Galveston

Let me know your DisBoard name when you send a request! I will check my Other folder often. :)

-Thanks,

We have heard that if you are driving down there, if you stay the night at some of the hotels in the area, they will let you leave your car there for the duration of the cruise. Some even have shuttles to the Ship.

Don't know if it is true, but would be greate if it were. Going to try and verify by calling a few hotels.

We stayed at a LaQuinta. It was inexpensive, and no frills by far. The room was OK for one night, but not luxury by ANY means. I didn't see any bugs, so that was a plus. LOL They charged $20 for your car for the week. It's parked underground and they have a shuttle that takes you to the port and picks you up. Great deal, IMO. My hubby doesn't want to stay there again, but we might anyway! HA!!

We used these guys for parking last Dec when we cruised out of Galveston: http://www.lighthouseparking.org/ Definitely will use them again. They are across the street from the terminal and they use a shuttle bus to transport. When we got there the first time, they literally transported two families across without any wait. Very quick and were courteous at that time as well. They pulled the shuttle right to where we parked for loading up our bags.

Hello Time4disneynow,

I use to live down there. What do you like to do for fun? We have the historic Strand that is right by the Port. On the other side of the island there is a Beach (if our winter keeps going as it has the past 2 years it will be in the 70's). There is also our Moody Gardens that has a Rainforest 'paramid', aquarium. If any of these sound good her are some links.

Thank you for the welcome. We love to cruise on the Disney ships.
Thanks for the restaurant recommendations!!!

Hi Trinity!
This is Shiner6,sending a request for FB group. Glad to see you are going as well!

We've been looking for things to do at Nassau. Last time we went to the pirate museum and wandered around a bit. So today, I check out DCL's page of excursions and found this: http://disneycruise.disney.go.com/c...-by-private-vehicle-8-hour-limo-driver-guide/

I think that would almost double the cost of the cruise! :scared1: Unless of course, it is split 6 ways, but the fine print says it is charged to ONE person's shipboard account and cannot be split from that. Even then, I'm not sure I could just spend 8 hours driving around looking. I'm sure this would be a fine experience for someone, but I'd rather upgrade to a different level of cabin.

Anyone have any good ideas on things to do at Nassau?

I'm pretty sure we're going to do something at Atlantis...but I better get moving and sell some Scentsy to be able to afford all that!!! LOL
