December 26, 2006, on the MAGIC!!!!

On last year's Xmas cruise, there were lots of rooms with lights and little trees in them. I had a small 2 foot tree with little lights. I cut out little Mickey heads from scrapbook paper with a MIcjey-shaped punch and used them as ornaments. We also brought stockings which rested on the sill of the porthole window. (Santa or maybe the elves upgraded us from an inside to a outsid ecabin). Then....I wired together one medium sized and two smaller sized green wreathes into the shape of a Mickey head and made a wreath for the door with a festive bow on it. Don't forget to bring a wreath hanger for the door if you plan on bringing a wreath.
After I bought a DVC membership, I came back to the stateroom to find that I not only had 1 DVC Welcome Home magnet, I had THREE of them. The clever Cast Members placed a Welcome Home magnet in each of the wreathes of Mickey's ears and one in the larger wreath that was his head. Gotta love those Cast Members!!!!

As I was trying to catch up on all the posts...even one or two early ones of mine that I forgot I posted here :confused3 , I was reading that many of you were going to the parks after the cruise for New Year's eve. One word of caution.... we did this last year after the Christmas cruise and I was shocked that by about 11AM the Magic Kingdom was closed for the day due to being booked to capacity! You could NOT get in!!!! We were headed to MGM on the WDW bus when the driver mentioned this. The "big" party was being held at MGM that evening and he told everybody they had better get there soon because he expected they would close that park by 2PM. Soooo....the advice it to pick the park you hope to be in at the stroke of midnight and get there early in the day. It makes it a little cumbersome to HAVE to spend the whole day there but it's probably better than being shut out.

Welcome sharon--at least you posting got us off the back pages. Where is Wallingford?

We have been in WDW for new Year's eve a few times. Once went to the parks and it was sooo crowded we got separated walking down main street and could not hook back up. None of us had cell phones and it was very frustrating. I would not go again. I hear the traffic going to the park is even awful. we are flying down on Christmas day, but in the afternoon so it shouldn't be too bad.

Hi Beth,
Wallingford is in the suburban Philadelphia area about halfway between Philadelphia and Wilmington, DE. I don't usually mind crowds at the parks but last year was soooooooooooooo crowded that there was barely room to stand!

I grew up in Wilkes-Barre, which is in your hlf of the state. So are your daughter and BF's daughter excited about the cruise?

Hey Everybody!I am going on your cruise on December 26th, 2006. it will be great. I have always gone on the wonder (6 times in fact). I can't wait to try the magic. It must be great. How is Goofy's Galely by the way?

glad to see more dis members on the cruise. Still hoping for more college age kids and some boys close in age to my 10 yr old.

I would be happy to participate in a swap if everyone decides to. On our last cruise several dis members handed out things--little decorated bottles of bubbles, magnets, key chains.

Oh no!!! We're all the way back on page 3!!!!

We're getting close to Palo and spa booking. Any return cruisers have booking advice for us newbies? What time do I really have to get up to get the Palo brunch? We'd really like a later time.

Get Up Early! Get Logged in! And work fast! Forgot to mention: Cruise must be paid in full in order to make ressies!

Go for Palo first! Whichever you want first, dinner, brunch or tea(that is if they will offer the tea on a 4 day on the Magic?)

Then for CC Cabana Massage!

Then anything else you want!

Good Luck!

BTW, We have another family that will be coming along! I'll get her to come on over here!

We will be joining you all. Just booked it yesterday as DH and kids decided a cruise was a priority.

There will be five of us. Myself, DH and three kids DD 20 DS 17 turning 18 on Castaway Cay and DD14. Two Cat 9's GTY. We have late dining.

I've looked into getting a room at Atlantis for the day or the comfort suites (so we could use the facilities) but everything is booked.

Can't wait to catch up with some old friends and make some new ones.

Glad to see more families joining us and someone close to my older son's age--now where are the 10 yr old boys!!

Isn't final payment due soon in order to make our online ressies?

Since I moved, I seem not to be able to find anything! :rotfl: :rotfl:

I think we have to pay by Tuesday next week (or Wednesdsay?) to make ressies 90 days out... anybody know for sure?

September 27th is the date we got for the final payment and making ressies 90 days out. We are on the 10 day holiday cruise prior to this cruise and it already had to be paid so I am happy to say we have paid for both our cruises now. Booked our shore excursions and night at Palos for the first cruise and am just waiting for September 27th now. Before we know it, we will all be sailing abroad the Magic. How wonderful that will be.

Talk to everyone very soon.

Hey Sandra-- So, is 27 September the 90-day out point, meaning we could actually make ressies at 3 AM that morning, meaning we'd need to make payment by COB 26 September??? Hmm... I just got out my calndar and counted, and 27 Sep IS 90 days prior, so we should be able to make ressies that day! Does that sound right? I'll call Monday or Tuesday to make payment...

OK, it sounds right to me. My date is Oct. 12 for 75 days out planning (we're new), so the 27th should be 90.

Yippee!!!

Yes, as long as your cruise is paid in full you should be able to make ressies on September 27. A lot of people from the 10 day cruise have had problems with the online ressies. We did as well. DCL's seems to be having problems with their website. I have emailed more than once and have called as well. No answer for the problems with the website though.

Take care.
