December 26, 2006, on the MAGIC!!!!

I didn't know that--Lynda, are you still going with us? My kiddo would be SO disappointed to miss out on Cash! Hope all's well.

We just unloaded most of our DVC points to day to pay off the cruise, so we're definitely going! Hurray!!! :cool1:

Hi all
Yep, It's final...My triple play (10-4- and 7-day) back-to-back cruises are cancelled. Life has inervened and I think that, rather than doing a multi-day cruise of the Caribbean this December, I'll sign on for the DCL transatlantic cruise opening up in April for May of '07. I had to cancel this April's blowout birthday transatlantic cruise on RCCL too and thought I'd do the DCL one next year when I'll have more time...I haven't been able to get away since Mom's illness and I'm hoping next year will be better...

Sorry to disappoint all the DIS-kids...Maybe we'll see you all on the DCL Med. Repo cruise, instead... pixiedust:

Well, we'll definitely miss you, Lynda! And Cash, too. Best wishes to your Mom.

The repo cruise sounds wonderful--I know it'll be a blast! Sure wish we could join you on that!!! Do take care--we'll be thinking about you. I'm sure we'll see you on the DIS boards! :thumbsup2

Hello, gang. We just cancelled this Disney cruise. The more my DH thought about the more he wanted to go on at least a 7 night cruise. So...we'll be at WDW Dec. 16-23 and then on the Carnival Glory Dec. 23-30. I know we'll have lots of fun since we've done Carnival before. Besides, my DH just loves their 24-hour pizza and soft-serve ice-cream.

I hope everyone has a great time on the cruise.

Jody

You'll have to let us know how you like it, Jody! Now that we live an hour from the Port, we might as well explore a few more lines that sail from here. Sorry that we won't meet you, but I hope you have a wonderful vacation!!! :goodvibes

Hello to all--
Just got back from 4 days @ wdw & now I can start thinking about this cruise. It still a secret in our home. My dh isnt going to be able to join us so its a xmas present to my dd ages 10&13 at that point. We have done 1 7day cruise on the magic. Been looking at airfair & really dont like what Ive seen so far. Would like to fly out later in day on xmas but not sure that will happen. May have to do early am 12-26. Well looking forward to getting to know all of you. Best go finish some laundry & get to bed. Need to head back to work to pay for this cruies.

What a GREAT surprise! I think airfare on Christmas Day, as long as you're not trying to get anywhere to actually enjoy the day, is usually pretty reasonable, I thought. At least it USED to be... I hope you find something that works for you--I know the airfare can really jack up the cost of a vacation. I just finished booking ANOTHER cruise--the 7-day Western on December 1, 2007. We snagged a secret porthole room! Right next door to a friend we cruised with before--lbgaves (moderator) on the DIS boards!!! SO excited!!! HURRAY!!!!!! OH, by the way, if you guys don't have passports yet for your kiddos, the Disney agent I was just chatting with while booking my 7-day agreed that, even though we don't need a passport for our child for this cruise, we really should go ahead and get it done for our son, since the wait time to get one back from processing will probably go up exponentially later this year (required for any sailing after December 28th this year, returning on or after 1 Jan 2007). Luckily, we've got his pictures and paperwork done already, and were planning to take care of it this afternoon anyway (it's just getting it on the calndar that's been our problem--tendency to forget anything that's not immediately important!!!)

Well, we got that taken care of. We dropped by the courthouse today to submit DS's passport application, and the young lady working there told me how smart I was (that hasn't happened lately!), and that the current turnaround on passports is about 8 weeks (only a couple of months ago, it was 3-4 weeks). She thinks the rush is about to start, and said anybody who thinks they might need a passport in the next couple of years really should go ahead and get the paperwork done. I'm SO glad we did it!!! :cheer2:

Wow... got a great secret porthole room on the 7-day Western for December '07... for more than a thousand dollars less than this cruise!!! Oh well... I suppose that just means I have TWO cruises to look forward to... I REALLY hope they offer the FL resident discount on this year's cruise.. wonder if they do that for every cruise... probably not, if they're booked full, right??? :rolleyes2

Hi Everybody! I edited the original post on this thread to list all the current cruisers and who's going with them! I'll try to keep it updated--I left off anyone who canceled, of course. If anyone wants me to add, delete, or change anything there, please let me know! Hopefully, we'll get a long list of folks before Christmas! Can't wait to meet you all!!! My kiddo is already excited about the trip--we bought a snorkel set a couple of days ago, so that he can start practicing in the pool. When we were at Castaway Cay a couple of years ago, he wasn't quite there yet... I told him that if he wants to go snorkeling with me this year, he's got to prove it to me in the pool!!! He's swimming pretty well now, so it should be easier. Fingers crossed! :thumbsup2

Hello Momma Rabbit, rifgirlsmom, DisneyRocks, havencruiser, and anyone else on our 12/26/06 sailing!!! Just FYI, I've been building a website for us! My dear friend, Lisa (moderator lbgraves), has turned me onto a website builder where she builds pages for her cruises! I loved her page, and thought we could really use one. Of course, it'll be more fun when we get a few more people on our thread. I've already built the site--has a homepage with itinerary, contacts page with DIS ID, family member names/kids' ages, early or late dining, cabin/suite number, and email addresses. I'm also doing a Bio page with pix of our families, and room for a little blurb about us, so we have some idea where everyone is coming from. It should be a nice place for making contacts! I don't have this info for most of you, of course. If you'd like to send me your basic info, I'll fill it in on the website, and after I've got a few of us in it, will send the link out to everyone! My plan is to send you all the website link via email, instead of posting here, so that we can keep some reasonable amount of privacy. You're welcome to look at what I've built before you send any personal info, if you like, just to be sure you want to share your info with us! Feel free to share as much or as little as you want. I'm not posting phone numbers or home addresses. It looks good so far, I think! Oh, and I'm also completely open to suggestions for other things I should do or change to make it a better site. :thumbsup2

My email address is kimszath@aol.com. Please give me a clue in the subject line, so I don't file it with my students' homework!!! :rotfl2:

Bump bump bump... looking for new DISers on our cruise!!! :sunny:

This is my families first experience cruising. Anyone that can share any tidbits would be greatly appreciated. I have 2 sons 15 and 18.
We just booked last week and are staying in a standard room, does anyone have any pics of a standard room?
:hourglass

Hi disneycrusin! So happy to have you on our thread! (I was starting to feel like I was talking to myself... a sure sign of Disney-itis!!!) You'll find all kinds of links to everywhere on these DIS boards--keep reading!!! Here's a link to a website that shows pix of all room types--
http://www.wdwinfo.com/wdwinfo/cruise-new/cr-staterooms.htm#cat

And another good site for some basic FAQs...
http://www.dcltribute.com/faq/

There are LOTS of websites out there jam-packed with info on the Magic and the Wonder... have fun! :Pinkbounc And keep in touch with us! I've built our cruise website, and can make the URL available to you if you'd like to check it out. It's still a work in progress, of course... we're just starting to get folks on the DIS boards for this cruise. If you'd like to share info with us on the site, let me know! I can put as much or as little as you want--many folks leave Disney cruises with lasting friendships! I still keep in touch quite regularly with a couple of friends from my first cruise--one is a moderator on these boards--lbgraves (Lisa). Have fun on the DIS boards!!!

I would love for you to share your website with me Kimszath
I was thinking about going to Universal after the cruise for a few days. How busy is it between Christmas and New Years?
Any reasonable priced hotels you can recommend?
Againthanks for any help you can give this cruisin virgin :hippie:

I haven't been to Universal yet--can you believe it?? :teeth: We just moved here at the end of last summer--love it, though. We're actually a little less than an hour from WDW, so most of the hotels I know are up here, and none seem to be reasonable. We have a timeshare with Disney (Disney Vacation Club), so we don't usually stay in a hotel down there... I do know that my Mom's timeshare sometimes has availability for rental, and it's not overly expensive from what I know. It's called Blue Tree Resort in Lake Buena Vista. It's pretty nice--used to be a 5-star... I think they're rated 4-stars now. Alot of folks don't realize that there are rentals available at these timeshares... we got an extra deluxe room there a couple of years ago for about $460 for the week, if I remember correctly. One exit away from Disney, so it's probably 20 minutes from Universal??? In any event, I'd imagine Universal is as crazy as the Disney parks during that week... all the kids are off from school.

Send me your email address, and I'll send you the link. I don't want to post the link publically here, since some of us might want to keep our info relatively private. :thumbsup2 My email is kimszath@aol.com

When you get ready for me to post your family's info, send it to me via email, and I'll get it up as quickly as I can! Do send a picture, too, if you have one that you want to share! For most of these webpages, folks send pix of them cruising, but since you're a first-timer, you won't have one of those... use whatever you want! :rotfl:

Hello:

We were in Orlando in December 2005. We had a week there, then a week on the cruise and a week and a half back in Orlando. We did many of the parks between Christmas and New Years and it was crazy there at that time. We were to do them again in 2006 after the 10 day holiday cruise we have booked but after seeing the traffic at the parks we decided to add the four day cruise rather than the parks. It was so busy that it was difficult to enjoy.

Take care.
