December 26, 2006, on the MAGIC!!!!

Anyone have any suggestions for what to do on Nassau? I have 2 teenage boys. Is there a beach there we can go to?
How is Atlantis and what exactly can you do there?
Getting very EXCITED!!! :cool1:

DD will stay on board, as usual.

I this time have decided to head over to Atlantis and try my luck! :rotfl2: :rotfl2: Which should take all of 5 minutes! :lmao: :lmao:

Depending on the weather, may stick around to explore the aquarium and the hotel itself.

I am also a rare breed who enjoys walking the Straw Market.

I also must remember the Rum Cakes!

There is also Cable Beach but not been there yet.

Maybe my husband can join you at Atlantis--i hate to let him go alone and lose all our tip money.

If I was sure the weather would cooperate I'd rent a room at the Radisson at cable beach--supposed to be very nice.

Anyone checked the weather yet?

If it's bad don't tell me.

Just wanted to wish everyone safe travel. We are leaving this afternoon for WDW and then the cruise. I hope we all have the best cruise yet!

Hi BethA-
Yes, I have older teens.... a houseful of them! I'm sure Nassau will become the great debate among them. We have been to Cable Beach and it was very nice; however, I really dislike the traffic and crowds that are encountered on the way to the beach... I would prefer to stay on board, them- not so much.. I am not comfortable with them going off on their own, so the reality is that I will have to go with them. It's just a question of where. The Hilton near the port has a small pool and beach area and it is next door to Senor Frogs, so maybe I can talk them in to going there instead of across town :goodvibes

We are really looking forward to this trip- but sooooo much to do before we leave... Work...shop...pack...host............ We leave on Saturday- here's hoping I have packed a few things before then!

Not a problem! I hate to waste money but I decided to use my massage money instead! Hope it's worth it!

I don't know if there is availability at either Atlantis or Comfort Suites. I phoned Atlantis and they are booked solid! She did mention to drop by to see if a "Day Room" was available. Don't want to schlep everthing over there to find out there isn't one.

I haven't checked the weather, yet. That's on tomorrows agenda. Can't really rely on 14 day forecasts!

I would rather take a bad day on DCL then a good day here! :lmao: :lmao:

As for teens roaming by themselves, don't forget, they are allowed to drink on the Island, so be careful! Also, there are other "things" available that are not considered legal! ;) ;)

Safe Travels to those leaving soon!

Does the Hilton near the port care if you use the pool? That sounds like a good option.

I know one of us will have to go with Blake and his friend-- and I know they will hate it, since they are in college. My husband might like the Senor Frogs idea--it was a big hit in Cozumel apparently.

I know the last time I was in the Straw market I was hounded by people trying to sell me all kinds of things.

My guys will also hate it that they will be accompanied, after all they are in college.... It's such a balancing act at this age. But, hey isn't vacation all about family time??

I have read that for $15.00 you can purchase a wrist band that allows you use of the pool and beach. The pool is small, as is the beach area, but I'm hoping it's proximity to Senor Frogs will convince my tribe to give it a try. The hotel is called the British Colonial Hilton if you would like to see some pics online.

The straw market is a definite must miss for me!!

Ok, this cruise is VERY VERY OVERBOOKED!LOL

I received a call to not cruise! Unfortunately, the offer they made me is not feasible! :sad1: :sad1: :sad1:

But they made me another offer I could not refuse! But DD is very very very upset with me!

So how bad is a Cat 11? It's only 4 days right? :rotfl2: :rotfl2: :rotfl2:

As for a formal night, they still have not heard anything from the ship itself!

Why Oh Why do I have to do the Accounting!

See you real soon!

I got the same call. Fortunately for us, we were able to make the switch and will now be sailing Dec. 30th on the 7-nite Western!!!!!!! :cool1:  :cool1:

They also upgraded us to 2 cat. 6 rooms instead of a cat 7 and a cat 11!!!!! :cool1:  :cool1:

I will miss meeting all of you, but I have always wanted to visit Key West and the Caymans. This is a dream come true for me (and it's wrapped in a big pile of pixie dust!). Enjoy the Magic and take good care of her for us.

Until next time...

No it's just us two! ;)

Just Kidding!

They did just like the Airlines do, overbook, hoping that people will switch or cancel. Doesn't look like that happened!

Don't worry, everybody will have a place to sleep! I got dibs on a Deck 4 Lounge Chair! :lmao: :lmao: :lmao:

Congratulations!

Now I really feel bad! The Western Cruise is the only one that has always been out of arms reach, and once again has happened! Guess I'm not meant to go to Key West!LOL

Happy Sailing! We'll look after her for ya!

I never know how the travel industry does this at a holiday time, and especially for a cruise--do you think people book a cruise and just don't show??
I imagine they keep upping the offer to switch until someone jumps ship.
We had a flight booked at Easter one time with over 15 too many passengers--they ended up giving them a few free tickets to get people to get off.

My TA called us yesterday--said the first day he called those from FLA, thinking it might be easier for them to rebook

If we could have changed our dates it was a good deal. We'll miss anyone that took it and congrats that it worked for you. My husband is very worried we won't get on the boat. we have seen airlines just turn people away--almost happened to us, but we made quite a fuss because it would have ruined a trip to go down a day later, so we did get on. We had planned to go to the port around 1, but might change that now--can you imagine being turned away---it would not be pretty!!

we are leaving for my parents for 3 days and then fly out Monday--Merry Christmas and hope we get to meet
Beth

Hey everybody!!! How was the cruise??? I was at WDW for Dec. 26, 27, and 28, and thought about you guys all afternoon on the 26th. I hope you had a MAGICal trip!!! I just saw all this silliness about the overbooking--I've never heard of this happening... Did it seem ridiculously crowded? I think it almost always sails near capacity anyway... Happy New Year!!!!!!!
