Hello all, we are possibly planning an overnight stay in Disney on December 21st. I was originally just thinking of doing resort things but then started contemplating doing Epcot. Are the crowds insane this time of year? I've never been.

Thanks for your help.

Crowds are elevated during that time due to the holidays but I wouldn't classify them as insane. The period between Christmas and New Years will be a lot busier.

Regardless, with some planning and key FP's you'll be fine no matter the time of the year. Go to Disney and have fun!

My family and i will be there then... Ive planned, so we are just going to go and have fun... Not going to worry too much when we have to adjust our plans accordingly..

While the week between Christmas and New Years is very busy, the day you are thinking of is the Wednesday before Christmas and should not be as bad. I would go to Epcot as they have the Holiday Storytellers in World Showcase, the CP in America and the additional addition at the end of IllumiNations (as long as they are still doing that this year).

Crowds will be higher, but that depends on what you're used to. Do you only go in March or September? It'll be packed. Have you been in July or during another major holiday? Then it won't be so bad.

December 21st actually shouldn't be too crowded.

Free dining ends on the 21st. You're gonna get a lot of people leaving on that day, and a bunch of people checking in. It's a Wednesday, so it shouldn't be too popular for a check-in day. I think you're gonna be hit by a small pocket of very young families looking to get a head start on their holiday. Most schools will go until December 23rd, though, and many will check in later that day and 12/24.

So... it'll be crowded but not too bad. It definitely won't be anything like Christmas week.
