December 21, 2008 Christmas Vacation on the Wonder

Welcome! I was hoping that more people would find this thread. How many are in your party? Any teens? I have dd(16) that would be thrilled to find others on board.

I just noticed that we will be across the street from you at Shades of Green (arriving on 18th). We walk over to the Poly and use the monorail most days.

Thanks! I'm afraid it's just me (princess: 26), I'm a Kiwi who recently moved to Taiwan, so Florida is a bit out of the way for most people I know, although my dad is coming with me on my 2009 trip. The Poly is new digs for me, I've only been in POP and POR before. I'm still debating whether to have a couple of nights after the cruise too, although would book pop at the holiday season prices (I have a couple of days left on a non-expiring ticket). Christmas morning in the Magic Kingdom would be awesome. Are you doing WDW before and after?

Yep, we are returning to SOG and and will stay a couple of days after Christmas also. :santa: We are doing the Candlelight Processional on Christmas Eve and plan on hitting Magic Kingdom the next morning. We have been there at New Years and the week after, but this will be a new experience.

Let me see if I have this right, you are going on a cruise alone? Not that I am suggesting we adopt you, but I will make sure that you have our cabin number just in case you need something. :)

I haven't made any ADRs yet, I am planning on doing the candlelight processional one night though. I did it during each of my two December trips in 2005 and really enjoyed it (they were my first times in the World).

Yup, just me - I've travelled alot of places alone so I'm all used to it, but that is so sweet of you! I'm booked into a Navigator cabin - lowest priced cabin that would still get me into the Poly and I loved the idea of breakfast on the balcony - although a standard cabin would have been plenty of room for 1. Sometime when I'm feeling less lazy I'll look out which cabin number I went into (I'm not too concerned about room location on this occasion so just went with the auto-allocation).

How wonderful will it be cruising at Christmas-time!! My favourite time of the year.

Hi, Everyone. I am not on this cruise, but I keeping seeing the date of this cruise and want to join you all because it's my BIRTHDAY!! I hope that you all have a wonderful time.

Do you know where I can get more details about this? I have not heard of it before, and am limited in my knowledge of Disney at Christmas.

Thanks!
Deb

We have seen part of it when we were there after Thanksgiving one year. I always wanted to see the whole thing and this year we will be back in time to enjoy this. We are always in church on Christmas Eve so this will be great since we won't be making it home in time.

Go to the Dis home page and on the left lower section it says UPDATES. Scroll down to Candlelight Processional and click. It will take you to the page with all the details listed. I pulled some of the info and listed below:

A mass choir, joined by a 50-piece live orchestra and a celebrity narrator, tell the story of Christmas in words and music, in a very moving performance. Performances are held at the America Gardens Theatre.

2008 Candlelight Processional Narrators:

11/28 - 30: John O'Hurley
12/01 - 03: TBA
12/04 - 12/6: Brian Stokes Mitchell
12/07** - 12/9: Virginia Madsen
12/10 - 12/12: Monique Coleman
12/13 - 12/15: TBA
12/16 - 12/18: Chita Rivera
12/19 - 12/21: Abigail Breslinl
12/22 - 12/24: Steven Curtis Chapman
12/25 - 12/27: Edward James Olmos
12/28 - 12/30: Marlee Matlin

Has anyone else received their "Ship and Shore Vacation Guides"? Mine came in the mail today and I quickly flipped through to see if anything had changed since the last one.

It does make it feel closer.:goodvibes

We are all ready for December to get here and have a warm Christmas for a change.:cool1:

Hello All,

We are cruising for the first time and we (my wife and I - the kids do not know yet) are excited! We are treating it as a Christmas gift. The kids are (I had to ask my wife what the letters meant so here we go) DD(13), DS(10), DS(6) & DD(6), twins if you had not guessed. Unless my wife creates her own ID she will probably take over the chat.

Any advice for first time cruisers would be great!

Darrick

Welcome, Darrick and family to not only the cruise, but to the Dis. These forums are a great place to find all types of information about cruising with Disney. Are you planning to do WDW before or after your cruise?

We are doing WDW after the cruise. This will be our 4th trip to WDW, so we are looking forward to the cruise since we enjoy WDW so much. I have been reading other threads to get some helpful info which have been great.

Can anyone suggest specific threads to read to get ready for the cruise (i.e. activities/excursion cost, rooms, meals, etc)? BTW - we will be lodging at the Embassy Suites in Lake Buena Vista and visiting MK & Universal.

Welcome to the Dis and most importantly, the cruise. We had so much fun on our first cruise I booked the second one somewhere around the second day.

The DCL forum is a great place to gather all kinds of information. If you have questions, someone usually jumps in with an answer or idea.:goodvibes

Has anyone else started booking excursions and Palo yet? It seems like there are some different excursions in Nassau since our cruise. And a tropical storm kept us from Castaway Cay...I believe we got within a mile of it. That's the part my DD is interested in.

Hi! we just paid off the cruise so we are officially joining you all! We are a young family, just DH and me and DD 2!

Welcome!! Great to have you along. I was thrilled to get ours out of the way so I could start booking excursions. I was sort of hoping that more people would have joined this thread by now and possibly found someone closer to my DD age.
Oh, well, she had a blast with us last time and I don't think that will change too much.

Hello everyone! My 5 year old son and I will be on this cruise. This is our first. We're both very excited.

I am sure you will have a great time. Do you think he might enjoy the Piratepirate: museum in Nassau? We are going there this trip (hopefully). The website is: www.pirates-of-nassau.com and it has all kinds of information. It is about a 10 minute walk from the dock (purple building I believe).
