**December 2025 Check-In Thread**

Some random observations and thoughts on our one day trip on Friday, December 19th:

As mentioned before, I mostly surprised my wife with a birthday trip for the two of us (leaving teenager girls and young adult son at home) by using airline miles, hotel points, and the finals day of our Costco 3-day tickets we got for our September runDisney event. Kept it secret tor a whole bit my wife saw the reservations for Disneyland when she investigated if we could use that final day 😂

Still, it worked out well because she could have a few days to be excited and plan. We flew out on Thursday night and because of the day’s festivities, we were the latest ever for a departing flight but still managed to make it. I was rejected from the TSA PreCheck line because I had mistyped my birthday (found this on the return home) so there was a bit of a scare but still made it with maybe 20 minutes to go.

Uber’d to Home2 Suites for two nights. We went to sleep right away as it was pushing 11 and we wanted to make it to rope drop (something we really haven’t done since kids were little). In the morning, found out that the hotel now serves Starbucks coffee which is fantastic and will make mornings less complicated going forward. 😂

Made it in the park by 7:30 with little security line and maybe 15 folks in front of us. Immediately LL’d Indy in hopes of snagging MEPs (or whatever we call them these days) but it refused to go down until our actual, adjusted LL time in the evening. We still rode on it later.

Going ride by ride is sort of boring but stacking LL’s was super useful as we breezed on and off rides the first couple hours of the day. Longest wait was Matterhorn which listed as 25 when we got in line but took 35 minutes (and quickly shot to 40 listed shortly after we got in line). We ended up having a corn dog from the cart for lunch since my wife craved it and took a few hours break back at the hotel.

Mostly skipped entertainment and rode rides, snacked, and my wife took lots of photos for her Etsy store and Instagram account. Longest wait of the entire day was the Railroad around 6:00pm. It was nuts. Seemed like only two trains at most could have been running and we ended up in line for at least 40 minutes as fogged rolled in.

We closed out the park, got back for sleep, had brunch @ Storytellers the next day and headed to the airport for our 4:30-ish flight back home. Tons and tons of fun. We hadn’t been by ourselves in quite a while. We are planning on getting ourselves Inspire passes and making more trips next year.

(For the record: kids don’t mind at all. I think we have over-Disney-ed them out over their lifetimes)

@MonocularVision, we were also in the park on the 19th and were on the DLRR about that time. We got on at Tomorrowland (which I've found is often the best place to board for a shorter line) and got off at Fantasyland/Toontown. The line at FL/TT was crazy! There was no wait at all when we boarded at Tomorrowland.

What does your wife do with Etsy that you were taking pictures in the park for it?
