December 2020 W.I.S.H. - Finding Delight

It’s Topic Tuesday. What are your favorite veggies to snack on? I’m tired of carrots....so I’ve been eating more fruit (and maybe cookies too). But I think I need to have another serving of veggies.

Bonus - post a funny healthy snacks meme to make us all smile

Bell peppers and those small cucumbers-I think they’re called English cucumbers? They really are better than the big ones. And those little peppers halved with a little hummus in them. Regular tomatoes are not good this time of year, so we eat a lot of the little multi colored ones. I really enjoy apples and just have to remind myself to get one out and slice it up.

When I snack on veggies (ha ha) it would be carrots or celery. My number one snack is a sliced apple and possibly some cheese, or maybe some crackers and cheese.

Today is pretty much Woohoo Wednesday and Thankful Thursday rolled into one... I figured out the headache! I consulted Dr Google yesterday morning, asking about 'headaches that move' and the first thing that came up was stuck neck - bingo. I haven't been to the chiropractor in forever and could feel that my neck was stuck and had thought it might be a contributor, so this really clicked for me. I got a chiro appointment yesterday afternoon and he was able to do adjustments that corrected about 60% of what was going on. I still have the headache this morning but it isn't moving around, so that is a good improvement. I'm going back in Thursday for another adjustment and will try to do one more before they close for Christmas. So, so relieved. And as a side benefit, I'm wondering if my neck/back being so out of adjustment has been contributing to my foot problems, because they feel pretty darn good this morning.

Now if the rain coming down outside would magically turn to snow....

I am so glad that you figured it out.

I really miss my chiropractor. Last year I fell and sprained my shoulder. My chiropractor saved me from surgery with acupuncture, electrical stimulation, and massage. Those months of treatment were pure Heaven, especially the twice a week massage therapy appointments. Unfortunately insurance limits my chiropractic appointments, so I had to stop seeing him before I was fully healed. I would do so well with a weekly maintenance appointment.

I like cucumbers, carrots, bell peppers and celery.

So I tried a snickerdoodle cookie for the first time yesterday. Big mistake. I like them. They taste like cinnamon toast. This could be bad. I am trying to be good with the cookies in the house.
The good news is that cinnamon lowers blood sugar, is anti inflammatory, and lowers risk of diabetes and heart disease, so those snickerdoodles aren’t all bad.

I actually like veggies and should do better about buying them and cutting them up ahead of time for quick snacks.

When I was a kid, my dad used to make "snack plates" with cheese, pretzels, pepperoni, and green peppers. I still love that combination!

I used to do celery with cream cheese or peanut butter a lot, but I get annoyed when the celery gets stuck in my teeth.

Sugar snap peas are my most recent veggie snack discovery. I like them plain or dipped in Ranch dressing:

Thanks ladies! I’m more of a sweet than savory as well. But I am good about prepping stuff for school and thought if I could prep some bags of veggies for the week, I’d be good. But I’m sick of the carrots. And I’m not big on peppers. I do like celery and cucumbers. Yet I’ve never had the English cucumbers. And it’s been a while since I’ve had sugar snap peas. How could I forget about those?!?! They even have sugar in their name ;)

@sjrec I used one teaspoon of the real stuff. DH had a little tiny bottle and it had one teaspoon in it, so that's what the recipe got!

I love English cucumber sliced with just the teensiest bit of ranch. I like sugar snap peas, but usually get them at costco and then wind up throwing 3/4 of the bag away. >:(

I have some candied ginger that I munch on when my tummy acts up. Maybe I should munch every day, since I know it is super good for you! When we went on our one and only cruise five years ago (thanks, mom and dad!) I brought some ginger chews in case I got seasick. Turns out I did not need it but my brother (who worked on a commercial fishing boat for a few years!) needed it one day!! It did the trick for him. :rotfl:
