December 2013: We just booked!

Whoo! I had my dates picked out for a few weeks now, but today I was finally able to book my room! (Had to wait for another person in my party to confirm they were going.)

Myself, my husband, my mother, and our 7/8 month old will be staying in a preferred room at Pop December 1-8th! :cool1:pixiedust:

We're waiting to see if the military discounts get extended to December to see if our price jumps down a little, but even if it doesn't, we're still going! :rotfl:

Having booked the room I now feel like my trip is real, and I can get busy thinking about ADRs. (Only 20 days left until I can begin booking.)

Anyone traveled with a child under 1 before? I'm pretty familiar with what to expect/things to avoid/do, but if anyone has any suggestions I'm game to hear them. :goodvibes

Woo-hoo! I just booked us (me, hubby, 9 year-old son, 6 year-old son, and 2 year-old princess in Dec.) at the Poly Nov. 30 - Dec. 9th. :cool1:

I really, really, really need them to come out with a 30-40% off deal, though.::yes::

I'm so excited about hours being up!!! Our tentative dates are Dec 1-7th. I can really start planning now. However DH just came up with a totally different plan of what HE thinks we should do. His plan involves getting hoppers though and I was trying to avoid that this trip. But he made sense because last time (my first trip) we didn't see all of epcot or all of magic kingdom. Pretty sure we saw everything we wanted at DHS and AKL (though I could ride the safari non-stop all day and be a happy girl), but not the other two. So DH had a plan to spend at least a day and a half at each of those. Also if we get there Sunday DHS has EMH and I think that would be the ideal time to see the Osborne lights, right? But that would add another day to our tickets. So adding another day and hoppers just seems like I am going to double my ticket cost. So I don't know. We are definitely doing MVMCP and a dining package Candlelight Processional.

When do the dining packages come out for the Candlelight Processional??

So excited!!! :dance3:

Oh no! Just for fun I thought I would run our dates on the Disney reservation website. Right now we are leaning towards Coronodo Springs but its not set yet. So i put in our dates and was surprised when only King beds showed up. I thought that is what we want but that's odd that they don't even offer anything else. So I kept redoing it and still only king beds. So I went to their other 'view resort details' site and checked availability and sure enough under the 'regular' rooms it all says NOT AVAILABLE! What the heck! It's the first week in December it shouldn't be booked. :worried: Makes me wonder if I should really wait around for the specials in order to book. But at the same time do I want to stay at a booked resort?

It's a possibility that that will be the mod resort for pop Warner kids. They usually stay at the all stars and one moderate. I think that just about confirms it. You may want to consider a different hotel!

The first week of December is not pop Warner. They are coming the second week. It's weird that only king beds are coming up. Coronado has a convention center attached so you may want to call an see if there is a convention scheduled that week as they can usually fill up rooms that way. I had the same trouble with the yacht club. A convention was there so most rooms were booked. Oh and when pop warner does come they usually stay at port orleans and value resorts. Hope that helps.

The calendar I saw was pop Warner arrivals on the 6th or so this year, which is the tail end of the posters trip.

CORRECTION: I looked again and PW officially starts on the 8th, but to me it still seems likely that it MAY have something to do with it...just my opinion at this point though.

Thanks! We were originally thinking the 2nd week but didn't bc of Pop Warner...not necessarily bc of the kids but because usually there are no discounts during that week. DH did a search online and found there were several conventions at Disney that week. He didn't go into it too deep just a google search but my guess is at least some of those are at CSR. If its a convention that doesnt bother me. That just means the buses will be less busy during the day. :) EDIT: You were right, I put myself checking out on the 5th and suddenly I had full availability. Ugh. Oh well, still that means an on slaught of kids on the last few days but not entire trip, right? I hope...maybe....ugh.

I think I might call tonight and see if I have a pin attached to my name. I feel silly but its worth asking, right? :rotfl: That way I can book now and not feel that bad. I may book now anyway...I really shouldn't. #1 Dh and I still have weight to lose (but combined we have less than 28 lbs out of 100 to go so I think those odds are good and i can always cancel) #2 I dont really want to have to bother will calling to change my reservation when a discount comes out or even worse if NO discount comes out. :faint:

Hope everyone is having a great weekend!

I have made our reservations!
We (that's me, my ex-husband and our daughter, 20) will be staying in a Little Mermaid room at the AoA from November 29 - December 9! After that my daughter and her dad will fly home to the real world, and I will head to Bay Lake Tower to join my brother and his girl friend for a few more magical days! I'll head back with them on Dec 13.

That means 15 Disney days for me - I am the luckiest girl in the world! pixiedust:

In the first week or our trip, we're planning a night with the Wishes Dessert Party (we are hoping for Dec 2), and in the second week I'll be doing MVMCP on the 10th. I've never done either of those before, so that's even more to get excited about.

It's going to be a really great trip. I'm so glad this place is already here for me to come share my overflow of excitement.
Only 192 days to plan! :joker:

I felt compelled to add that it is really admirable of you and your ex to not only get along but to actually take family vacations together! My parents also get along (we spen holidays together) and I cannot tell you how much of a blessing it is! I'm sure your daughter feels the same!

I have to say, I'm very jealous of your trip right now. :rotfl: I can't imagine how awesome 15 days in Disney during the holiday season would be. You're going to have an amazing time!:goodvibes

Thank you so much! There have been times when it has been a struggle, I will admit, but as a child of divorced parents myself, I knew how important it was for us to work out our problems for her sake. I was fine with the fact that my parents weren't "in love", I just wanted to know they were there for me. And at times like holidays and vacations, I wanted us all to be in the same place at the same time. So we've made it a priority to give that to her. We've been broken up for a really long time, so it's easy to get along now - and you're right, she loves it! Especially when we're all getting along at Disney World :rotfl:.

I know! I keep wondering how on earth I got so lucky! pixiedust: I know there are plenty of people who go that long all the time - and some even longer - but for me it's like a magical dream come true. I was 30 the first time I went to the World, and since I've only been able to go for about a week at a time so I am so super excited!

Some people (obviously no one who would be on this board) are like "15 days? What on earth could you do at Disney World for 15 days??" Clearly they are clueless. I think I could stay for 40 days! I have been 4 times and there is still so much I haven't done. I am really looking forward to being able to slow down and take my time and really enjoy every bit of this trip. I'm also planning to take an obscene amount of photos on those days when I'm staying with my brother and kind of on my own for most of the day.

Mostly, I'm planning to love almost every minute of it. :hyper:

I am confused - there was another December thread, but looks like it is going to go away soon as the OP had to change her trip.

Is there a facebook group for December yet? I am willing to get it set up if not.

We will be at the Swan December 21-26 - short trip.

I'd be interested

Love tohear about people's plans etc for their dec trip.

I have been diligently working on my spreadsheet to visit the storytellers

There is a Facebook group for December. I'm not sure how to add anyone but you can search for it under Dis'er December 2013. We'd love for you to join us!!!
