We did that tour a few years ago. It is quite interesting. Well worth the $!

That what I've heard. My partner and I have wanted to do a tour, but they're pretty pricy (and time-consuming). This seemed like a great way to do a tour, while not taking up a lot of park time or spending a lot of money. Plus, I have a Disney Visa, so I got 15% off.

Ok. I need help or maybe I just need to vent. Fantasmic at 6:30. And I need to be in line an hour ahead of time, so 5:30. This is giving me fits. We are not dinner at 8:00 people. I dont want to eat at any of the TS in DHS. Or CS really, but I can't avoid it completely. I could just not have a TS dinner that night, but I think dinner will win out to Fantasmic. Right now my two potential DHS evenings have us eating in Epcot at 4:45 and then going to DHS for EMH and the other we are eating at ESPN on the BW and playing mini golf and going to JellyRolls. I think Fantasmic is just getting scrapped. Or I will just let DB choose between dinner at San Angel Inn or Fantasmic. I could also move SAI to our BW evening. That's where it was originally, but that felt like a lot of traveling. Really it's just DHS-Epcot-BW. If we want a TS the other night we can go to ESPN if we want and miss Fantasmic or just eat CS and see Fantasmic. Ok, now I need to change that ADR back. Thanks for listening. :lmao:

Noooo. The planning isn't done until you get on the plane or in the car. LOL. Don't you have an ADR that you wish was 30 minutes earlier? Or are you thinking about doing the dessert party or a Fort Wilderness wagon/sleigh ride? After the first MVMCP we will know which characters are where so you can map out your plan for that. Look at menus to decide what you want to order. Ok I seriously feel like I have a problem now.

ETA--I didnt see you are from Cincy. Go Reds!!!

This is sooo why I need to step away from the boards ;) ;) I totally was trying to convince the hubby to cancel our exisiting ressies and rebook everything except this time rent DVC for AKL. "Since I could get a AK villa for very close to what we are paying for a room at AoA." Hubby talked me down from the edge ;)

TouringPlans just released a recap of December, 2011 information. From what it looks like, Disney added a second Fantasmic showing most nights. I can't remember when in December you are going, but the link is worth checking out to see if Disney might be doing a second Fantasmic (based on history).

I made reservations for us to the do the Behind the Seeds tour on our first EPCOT day (12/14). I'm excited!

I sooo wanna do this tour. I am not sure when we can fit it in though :( Was gonna see if we could squeeze it in before our ADR on our day of arrival. I am not getting my hopes up though. It looks like it would be really interesting!!

Did you really just say you dont know when I am going???? We have the same dates, leaving from the same state on the same day!!! And I thought you were my imaginary Disney internet friend!! I am crushed. :lmao:

I just asked my IT guy about the video and he cant figure out why it wont work. He also now thinks I am nuts, but that's okay. :)

Hahahaha. Sorry :sad1: I knew we are in the same state, but for some reason I thought you were earlier in December. Anatomy + Physiology class is killing every brain cell and taking them over, apparently. I also didn't pay attention to who posted the note, just looked at the text and went searching for the link.

Actually, now that I think about it, I remember trading flight info with you to see if we are booked on the same flight. DOH! I promise I'm not this much of a space case usually. Lol.

P.S. I just replied to your PM.

I was so upset, I didnt even look at the link. :lmao: That would make me super happy!!!! I think I will leave the SAI dinner where it is and hope there is an 8:30 show. :thumbsup2

Did you try turning it off and on? :badpc:

Sorry. IT worker here. Old habit.

But in all seriousness, it might be a resolution issue. Your display (either size or max res.) might not be able to handle it.

LOL. That is always the first solution!! When I call him, I always say I already turned it off and back on. :)

I will try it when I get home.

Ohhh, that would be awesome! Does it stand to reason that the second showing would be less crowded? As in, we could get in line 30 minutes before and still get good seats?

I wonder if it would be humanly possible to take in an 8:00 showing of Fantasmic, and be able to see Illuminations at 9:30.....

Thanks! That would be so perfect for us! Currently I have Brown Derby booked for 7.50pm because of F! but if there is a second show, hopefully I could change our ADR to 5.30pm instead :)

That's what I am hoping!! But it's 8:00 so not that late for little kids. It probably wont be as significant a difference as the late parade at MK. Not sure 30 minutes would be enough time for a good seat. But I made my family get in line 1.5 hours before the show last year. That will not be happening again.

Seems doable. Not sure how long it takes to boat from DHS to Epcot or how often the boat comes. If you are driving, I would think it would be doable. It does take a while to get out of Fantasmic though. Sit towards the top and take off as soon as it's over. :)

Question for those that travel to WDW without kids (or at least, young kids). Do you take afternoon breaks back to the hotel? Even in December?

I know the standard advice is to break mid-day. However, my bf and I (both mid 20's) will be going in December, without kids. With the cooler temperatures and shorter park hours, I haven't planned breaks back to the hotel.

I'm hoping that plan doesn't backfire on me. We have some mid-day ADRs that should provide for a nice break and all our days (except for the last day) should have us back to the hotel no later than 10:30.

Let me hear from all you non-mid-day breakers! Tell me how it's possible.

We did no breaks last december going from 8am ADR to 8pm each day. We had two small kids and two old grandparents ;) We had Dinner ADRs each day that provided a nice break and we typically broke midday at the park...either for the parade with a snack or sitting on a bench while kids napped and we snacked and talked.

And don't you forget the ultimate planning...what to pack while obsessively watching the ever so unpredictable December weather! And we can all speculate over how FLE will affect our days ;)

So that's pretty cool IF Fantasmic is playing twice the night we'd like to go. It's a sunday and last year there were two shows.......I'm assuming the first one is at 6:30pm.......so, the other good news is that's an EMH with DHS closing at 11pm.

My question is, what time would the second Fantasmic show be? Normal closing time is 8pm. Would the second Fantasmic be for the general public or just for those who get to stay for EMH?

My impression was always that the second showing of Fantasmic was worse (unlike MSEP). But that may be because in higher seasons the first one fills up, so the line just carries over from the first to the second. If the crowd isn't that high, it might not be that bad. I honestly don't know how much crowds have changed since they started doing it every day. I would post over on the Theme Park board. Robo or someone over there would know the answer.

Last year we saw the first Fantasmic show and then went back for Illuminations. In theory you could make it. It will probably take a little more than half an hour to get all the way from DHS to Epcot. So it depends on how long it takes you to get out of the amphitheater and out of the park. However, that just gets you to Epcot; it doesn't get you a good viewing spot.

That has me wondering now - the park closing time is always Illuminations start time. Will they let you into the park at that time? :confused3

They would only add the second show if park hours were extended from what they are now. Fantasmic is always during regular hours. I'm not sure what time it would be for an 8pm closing though. I posted a question on the TP blog to ask.

Edit: I just did some research and last year they had shows at 6:30 and 8:00. I guess the show would be at 8pm on an 8pm closing. Like with Illuminations being right at closing.

Thank you for the research! I want to do Osbourne Lights during the first Fantasmic since crowds should be considerably lower (hopefully)! Maybe I'll snag some dinner reservations at Kouzzina for after the second Fantasmic! Even if they don't have one, we can do Fantasmic later on in the week. I do hate to eat so late but we're doing a late lunch at CityWalk so we'd probably be okay to wait.
