OK off topic. I would love for my son, who is ten, to have a pen pal and am wondering if anyone is up to it- a real, snail-mail pal. Then maybe they could meet up at WDW? Let me know if your dates overlap mine and if you are interested.

My DS will be 10 in Oct. I'm sure he'd love to do this by snail mail or email. We'll be there Dec 3-15.

Our son also has anxiety issues including riding on some park rides. We are already prepping him for some rides at WDW by showing him on YouTube. He swears he is going on Tower of Terror this year. How does your son do with the rides? Only this year was he able to get close to firecrackers and hold sparklers on July 4th. They have to make accomodations for him at school during fire drills, etc.

DS has issues with loud noises and things flying at his head. His biggest issue is with insects but movies and particularly 3D/4D movies are an issue. Needless to say, It's Tough to be a Bug was right out. On our first trip in Oct 2010 we only went to MK. We prepped him for anything we thought would be an issue. He rode thunder Mountain ok, but wasn't thrilled. And he was a little antsy for Mickey's Philharmagic. When we went back in Feb 2011 we prepped again but we weren't too worried. However, when he's tired his anxiety gets worse and we started the trip off rough with a blizzard and power outage. Suddenly we had to coax him onto every ride. Then we screwed up - Ellen's Energy Adventure hadn't shown up on any of our "scary" lists so we hadn't prepped. And he had a full scale anxiety attack. Now he was nervous about every ride and he didn't trust us. :-( It seriously took half an hour to get him on the Great Movie and we had to sit in the back row of Muppets. It was a challenging trip. However, we did get him on most of the rides we had planned for him. And now that he's done them once, he knows what to expect. I should also mention that although he doesn't like real roller coasters ( and the sense of being out of control), he loved Sum of All Thrills on our short trip last Oct.

We've also been working hard on the bug anxiety this summer, using CBT methods. And now that he got over the dog thing, he has some success under his belt. We'll probably try some movies this fall in preparation for Disney. like the dog, there's at least strong motivation there to get over these anxieties. So I'm hopeful. With my in-laws we won't be riding many thrill rides anyway, so he should be fine this time. Also, one of his goals is to convince his grandmother to ride Soarin; so being on the other side of the coaxing should be interesting.

Throwing around some ideas to stretch pur last half day before driving back to atl.

Thinking about leaving wdw in the evening and driving 2 to 3 hrs and finding a hotel for the night. ( i figure we'll be pretty exhausted by then)

Any recommendations for towns en route to atlanta?

Great I will send you our mailing address and email via private message. Looks like we may be staying at AKL at the same time too.

Does anyone know where they would sell the MVMCP pin 2012 at normally. It's exclusive only to people that attend the event correct?
Anyone read any good Disney books lately?

Does everyone wear a lanyard with a pocket to keep their Keys to the Kingdom while at WDW? Who collects pins? I have only one that was given to me as a gift for filling in extra pieces for a Disney scrapbooking swap many years ago....trying to decide if I should work on collecting some....

As far as the plastic pocket things on the lanyards....I've read they are not well made and that the zipper part tends to rip, not a good thing!

I do wear a lanyard with a pouch. i keep my KTTW and a photopass card in it. I have only gotten the pouch at Disney and it does tend to rip a little by the end of the trip. I find that one always lasts me a whole trip though. I think they are around $9 at the stores. Iam am thinking of trying a pouch like THIS, it looks a little sturdier than the plastic ones.

Am looking into pin collecting you know something to start collecting, only pins to show what I did like I know I will get the Yuletide pin with the tour. Also maybe one for the lights in DHS, fantasmic, a cp one if there is one and maybe my favorite rides after I find out which ones are my favorite. I have read of forums it's very fun pin trading with cm and other Disney guest

Oh, thanks for that link! I'm getting the black Tinkerbell one. I agree they look a little more sturdy and would also hold my iPhone! I did just buy a smallish cross-over bag so I could keep my small camera, sunscreen, keys, cc, and ID but I like the idea of having my photopass card handy!

We bought our MVMCP pins, I believe, at the gift shop at either Liberty Sqr or Frontier Land. All gift shops stash the exclusive merchandise til after 7pm. Also, when we were there, if you spent $100 (which is SOOOOOOOOOOOO easy to do) we got a MVMCP exclusive fleece blanket of the castle all lit up.

I bought the Christmas lanyard our last trip and it was perfect. It kept our kttw, our fp card, my LGMH (no one noticed) inside and I stuck my Candlelight Processional admission sticker to 1 side. Everything is still intact in the lanyard to this day.

Ugh. $100.....I think I'll stock up on some Disney gift cards between now and December! Was the Christmas lanyard a MVMCP exclusive? Only available at the World?

Has anyone hear of exotic driving, I was thinking of getting it for my husband as an early Christmas present. It's offered on the racetrack in downtown Disney.

I keep my KTTK in my camera bag, which has a chest harness, or my pocket. I have one pin (Bambi's Flower) on my bag.

This trip DS asked about pin trading. Since we're taking the in-laws (first-time) and both DS and FIL are big collectors (DS Pokemon cards and FIL coins), I thought this was something they could learn together. There's a good book about Pin Trading but it's temporarily out if print. I'm waiting for that to come back in stock. Then I'll get the books and starter sets and some extra pins and pack them in a Disney box and " send" them from Mickey. I want them to get the package before the trip so they have time to prepare. This will be a new experience for us.

It's the newest version of the Richard Petty experience, except exotic cars instead of race cars. DH wanted to do it for his Dad. I think there was a time he would have liked it, but since his heart surgery, he seems more cautious. So we're going to pass. Anyway, it's super pricey and it takes a big chunk of the day but the driving experience isn't that long. If you're really into cars, then it's clearly an experience you can't get elsewhere. But I think you really have to know what you're getting for for money.

Since its so new, there were a ton of reviews recently. Just Google it.

I'm reading the Disney Food Blog 2012 dining Guide. :)

How is it? I was thinking about getting it. Does it offer information other than what we read here on the boards?
